Any videos of Russell singing?

First time I've ever started a topic, so I'm a bit anxious now. Hope it's alright to post this.

The fact that the latest batch of the pulpularity contest had a few songs with Russell Senior's vocals reminded me to ask this question.

I really love his voice, and it is said that he did perform live in one of the threads here (a lovely interview around 96). And the pulpwiki page for The Will to Power mentioned "yobbos started chanting 'Zieg Heil!" when he was performing. Were they not  well-known enough to have their shows recorded then? Any chance they've did some themselves? Wondering what he looks like when he sings. Anyone here once watched him singing? Does he dance (certainly not the same as Jarvis' I assume but hopefully good in a different way like their voices are different but both sounds attractive to me)? I imagine it'd be totally cool.

Never saw any videos although there ought to have been some? Tried googling but only found one or two videos of him. Googling the names of songs didn't work either. This might be a stupid question because I haven't bought any pulp DVDs yet (but eagerly want them and really planning to get them soon). If so, I'm sorry. I'm just some ignorant newbe here. I first heard of pulp around late 2012. I'm non-native speaker of English so I really hope I've made myself understood instead of saying things that doesn't make sense. My curiosity tempted me to do so. Still donno if it's a mistake to start a topic for one who have been here for no more than a month. Glad that posts are editable here anyway. So please do forgive me.

By the way I'm a little confused about the search function of this forum. When I input Jarvis or Russell (or Cocker/Senior/other members' names) the result I get is never more than twenty, which is impossible, isn't it? Or did they only show ones where the starters mentioned them?

But I really, really love this forum. People are nice here. And I think the mobile version of it is great as well as on PC. So again hope my post isn't a mistake.

The only footage of him singing is here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PMuE49d6Dw&feature=player_detailpage#t=805s - the camera zooms out after 30 seconds or so and you can see him. There may be more film out there, but none has come to light, as yet.

Yes, the search function isn't very good, is it?

Thank to both of you :) This is my first thread ever so you can easily imagine how excited I get when I get replies.

To weej: Nice video, it must be really rare. Unfortunately I think I can hardly recognise people in it because all that I see is the color grey (exaggerating a bit). I should watch The Beat is the Law sometime.

To saw119: Cool pictures. However they just made me want more. But if even you people here don't have them, I doubt someone like me will ever see any at all. (sigh) But after all singing doesn't seem to be something he likes. I probably should lay my hope more on expecting his novel to come out.

(Out of topic and inappropriately: ) Jarvis' trousers in the picture are so loose that I thought they were some sort of a skirt at first sight. Obviously it's my own eyes that are to blame rather than anything else though. Please don't get offended. Newbes shouldn't be joking in this way, can they?

No need to be so anxious Myron. Swear and belch as much as you like.

Russell only "sang" on a handful of songs and very little footage exists of Pulp as it is in the 80's, so I think it's a needle in a haystack job. Best bet is probably This House Is Condemned from The Day That Never Happened show in August 1988 which definitely was recorded but has not been made for circulation.

Some more really great piccies of Russell singing at the Leadmill during the Day That Never Happened show. Judging from all the evidence he's a bit of a mic holder. If Def2 comes along he might help you out with some eyewitness testimony.

Ive always found Russell the most approachable of members during the '80s. Its 'Fairground & Anorexic beauty' which i have the most memory of. 'Beauty'  because of jarvis stood behind the drumkit thrashing away. But mainly i loved 'fairground' it wasn't available at the time i first heard it but it  made a massive impression on me. Russell kind of reminded me a little of 'Brian Ferry' as a performer, which sounds ridiculous i know. I think it was his swaying on the spot while hugging the mic stand which i found a bit of a welcome relief after following Jarvis shuffling all over the place.  Magic days.

I know that the people who did Pulp's pr from the early 90's onwards all liked Russell the most!

I always found him the most friendly of blokes when I used to talk to him in the Leadmill in the early/mid 90's.

Btw, of further interest in the 'Anorexic Beauty' video is the fact that it's El Jarv on drums!

Def2, You were at THAT show? Wow, must've been great. Do you have any footage recorded then? How I envy you people!
By the way, is he really writing a novel? I think someone mentioned this in one of the threads here, but there doesn't seem to be anything about it that I can find on Internet at all.
Searching pulp-related things without result frustrates me from time to time. But luckily there are great sites like bar italia/pulpwiki etc. . Possibly it's because I've missed them and "just" missed them that I've got so obssessed. (I've Just read Jarvis' book review of The John Lennon Letters and think he's right. Anyway, still don't want to move on when pulp is concerned.)

Russell is always doing lots of things, but none of them ever seem to get finished.

Also, in the 80's you couldn't just get your phone out and record a live video of weird-looking indie band, so I wouldn't get my hopes up on other footage than has already come out or been mentioned!

I wonder what the earliest 'fan recorded' Pulp *footage* is from? All the early stuff seems to have been people with some connection to the band. The '91 stuff, p'raps, as included on Beat is the Law?

Which stuff do you mean? I thought that the Tony Rayner footage on the Beat Is The Law was an official recording. It certainly appears to have been professionally filmed.

in addition to the items already mentioned of Mr.Senior vocalizing, wouldn't it be fair to assume that the Dolebusters '85 recording would include 'Fairground & Anorexic beauty?

If anyone ever turns up a copy I suppose all will be revealed. I somehow don't think that the whole thing will get a release so for now we'll just have to make do with that excerpt from Mark Of The Devil on the Beat Is The Law DVD. One things for sure it'll be brilliant to see based on that excerpt.
