Jarvis protested against Jackson acting like Jesus. He'd have a field day with this
*Guffaw*
I guess I can see where you are coming from with the Next Day / Sexualised link - there's a similar relentlessness - but I'm not wholly convinced. Have you heard She from the deluxe edition? Whenever I hear that I want to reach for Sci-Fi Lullabies... which is weird given the strong influence Bowie obviously had on Suede. In my head it now runs: Bowie > Suede > Bowie... haven't heard any of Suede's new stuff yet.
More of an atmosphere and pace thing, I thought, rather than being close to a specific song. The rhythm of the verses, the guitar effects etc. in 'So She' reminds me a lot of the first side of the Suede B-sides.
Suede were actually going to do a cover of Lady Grinning Soul for a Bowie tribute album in 1994...let me dig out the interview..."You can really give the piano some hammer on that, Bernard" said Mark Radcliffe to Butler; to accompany a musical Bowie was doing that year but neither came to pass.
