I always think that title sounds like some kind of 70s sitcom. Anyway, here's the first fruits of the Faber & Faber connection, classic quote here from the Quietus:

"When my friend Richard Hawley said he'd met "a man in a pub who had a book for me" I have to admit I was slightly dubious."

Looks pretty interesting, I may even pick this up as I know very little about 50s and 60s folk.

It does sound like a title of a program shown around 11am on UKTV Gold, doesn't it? Going by my prior experience of 70s sitcoms, Jarvis would be the editor of the ailing periodical "Large Weekly". Each episode involves madcap scheme to improve the readership of the magazine. Needless to say, there are endless double entendres about how "large" Jarvis is from the office staff.
