A mate of mine has the match programme from this game and I had a quick look - and took a few phone snaps of the article so I could read later. Not sure if it'd be easily readable if I uploaded the pics, but here's a transcription:

"Most photo sessions with Jarvis and the band Pulp were incident-free. Although there was one session I shot for a Japanese magazine where the art director wanted to make it look like the band were each holding copies of their favourite album sleeves.

I had to shoot them holding their hands out and the record covers were going to be stripped in later. I think he must have lost his job prior to publication, for when I received my copy, they were still holding nothing. They'd just printed a random set of photographs of the band looking as if they'd each just dropped something out of shot...

The photo of Jarvis as photographer is a pastiche of Elvis Costello's second album This Year's Model. It was for a series I shot for the NME - which included Blur as Blondie and Steve and Gillian of New Order as the Pet Shop Boys. It was a difficult shot to take because the background colour was so nasty. That's my Hasselblad that Jarvis is posing with. "So how did you take the photograph?" I can hear you asking. Sadly, I'm not at liberty to explain.

Unbeknown to me, I think this session must have aroused some latent interest in photography for Jarvis.

A couple of years later I was in Madrid to shoot Radiohead for an NME cover. They were playing to a small gig that evening and I was to meet them at the venue for their soundcheck.

I had several hours to kill before the band's arrival so I was, erm, sampling the delights of one of the many bars in the city. I'd just ordered a drink when I heard someone call my name from the doorway. It was Jarvis. We exchanged pleasantries and I told him why I was hanging around in Madrid. He was there to do a Spanish TV programme but it wasn't been recorded until that evening. He seemed at a loose end.

"Can I come and photograph Radiohead with you?" he asked.

Much as I loved the idea of turning up with Jarvis Cocker as my assistant for the day, I asked him if he really hadn't got anything better to do. But he was insistent.

"I really like Radiohead. I'd love to see them soundcheck," he said.

When I told him I wasn't meeting them until 6pm, he realised that was more or less the time of his scheduled TV appearance.

Reluctantly he withdrew his kind offer of carrying my bags etc - but I offered to put him on the guest list instead. He seemed genuinely thrilled at this prospect and we had another drink to seal the deal, then went our separate ways.

I often wonder if he'd have been any good as an assistant - but I suppose it's too late to find out now."

What was the other photo published with the article? Was it the photo with the band not holding album covers? Would love to see those shots.

Thanks for posting! Also: what in the world is this article doing in a magazine for MCFC??

Exactly...Money f-ing Sheikhy? Jarvis is an Owl. Looking at Cummins' twitter handle perhaps he moved from music press photos to being a club photographer at Man City.

Another opportunity missed Jarvis story was in today's Evening Standard. He was giving his impressions on the Bowie V&A Museum exhibition and said he missed the chance to meet Bowie in New York last year. The Dame was watching Jarvis in his Michael Clark Company/Relaxed Muscle thing and went to the dressing room afterwards to say hello. Jarvis had left about a minute before. Apparently the last time they spoke was discussing the subject of smoking for Time Out or something in 1997.

Jarvis interviewed Bowie for The Big Issue in 1997, and they did mainly talk about smoking, yes. I have the magazine somewhere in my parents' loft, can scan it at *some point in the future*.

Would be quite good fun to take said photo of band with arms outstretched and photoshop in some truly awful album sleeves.

Must be this one, though it appear Cummins remembered it incorrectly, since they do appear to be holding CDs

Blimey, Candida looks uncharacteristically scary in that Crossbeat article.
