Given the lack of promotion for 'After You', does anyone else think we should try to do the band's work for them with regards to tweeting, forumming and facebooking the news - and appropriate links - to the new track?
If we helped to get it an appearance on a chart (whether that be itunes, the indie chart or the actual Top 100) then surely that might spark interest amongst the band in doing something similar again...?

No and yes. I don't think it is Pulp's work to promote this, that's their choice, but yes, I believe in evangelising. Given the number of people I have introduced to Pulp one way or another, nothing wrong with informing everyone you know via all the available channels.
As for getting it in the charts with the objective of encouraging future work, I don't see that as necessary. Pulp will do what they choose to do. The last two years are evidence of that. If they decide to release an album, (they may have recorded it already) it won't just be on the basis of the sales of this song.
I see your point. But wouldn't it be great if it did take off? I know it's on a lot of music news sites already, but I'm sure we can help. Have a formulaic 140-character tweet that we can all send off...?
I think that's going on already, to be honest - if you search Twitter for Pulp and After You there are plenty of people linking to the soundcloud version, the iTunes store, and 6Music - seems that the word is spreading pretty good!
And the first comment below it is "please tour the UK guys. I haven't seen you since you reformed!" hmm..like there weren't any opportunities to do so...?
I'm going to retweet the Pulp tweet. I suggest you all do too!

If I didn't live in London, I'd probably feel the same. Been fortunate to see them three times in London and just have to pay for the ticket and my tube fare and get back home.
They aren't coming across as too bothered. I'm sure the band & Rough Trade's promotional might is far greater than our's & if they wanted a big hit they wouldn't have have the song away a month beforehand & maybe pressed up some CDs with some Live tracks for b-sides or something. It appears more like they just wanted to make readily available to anyone who wants a copy.
I reckon they most have something else up their sleeves now & I'm sure it won't be long until we find out.
