I bet Brett Anderson's grinding his teeth at the Duke right now. Suede comeback on Monday, Bowie on Tuesday. That's gotta take the wind from their sails!
Not heard the Bowie yet, but looking forward to it. My two favourite Bowie albums are Hunky Dory and Earthling, so I feel I can stomach pretty much anything he throws out there!
Certainly wasn't expecting this when I woke up this morning! It is remarkable how someone of Bowie's stature can write and record an album without anybody noticing

writing and recording an album is one thing...but it has worldwide release dates lined up for just two months' time - and yet nobody let anything slip!
Listened to it 8 times already. This is lovely news! I was reading up on him on Saturday night & kind of resigned my self to the idea he's retired. I remember thinking the same of Pulp a week before the reunion was announced. Are there any other acts anybody would like me to consider have gone for good?
It's Elvis's birthday too today. He doesn't appear to have made the effort.
Fantastic news and just like Pulp have commonly been brave with putting out the not so commercial choons I admire Bowie for doing the same not just with this but many times in the past. That's why Bowie and Pulp are my faves. What I consider real artists. They'll do what makes them happy. Like the Pulp reunion all over again for me. Very happy
It's odd but it's very different! The lead single seems to be a summary of his life over the last decade really, unless of course Bowie is implanting this idea in our minds - the genius that he is it's not impossible! The album cover is really a 'moving on' idea as well, it's very basic and what not (the 'The Next Day' looks like a MS paint job!) but it's quite striking!

Morrissey and Prince are back too (well, a new, possibly old Prince song has emerged) ! What the feck is goin' on?! The cosmos is spluttering back our heroes full of life once more.
Moz was on Letterman the other night, song didn't do much for me (Action Is My Middle Name). I'm more interested in his ever-pending autobiography than him getting a record label to take him on and put out an album.
Don't get too excited about Morrissey he's been flogging that tune and about another 4 very underwhelming 'songs' around for a couple of years now. If that's the best material he has he'll never get a record deal. Also, don't hold your breath re. his autobiog. I'll be amazed if that ever gets released, even if it is written! On a side note, have you read his piece 'The Bleak Moor Lies' about a trip he took up to Saddleworth Moor during the recording of Viva Hate? If hsi autobiog is as good as that it should be an excellent read. All in all Moz is a bit of an embarrassment these days with a whole slew of ill advised comments the latest of which claiming he nearly voted for UKIP and saying he likes Nigel Farage a 'great deal'.
Morrissey put some new songs out in 2011 but apparently his issue is that no record company is willing to put out an album. Personally I think that's a complete bollocks excuse though. Have I ever mentioned on here the time I drank with Morrissey? Well... the time I sat on the same table as Morrissey with mutual friends whilst he looked past me.
Also I may or may have not cried with excitement at the Bowie news... I couldn't possibly comment.
