They could easily make a new album without having to write one! There are a load more hidden gems in their back catalog that we have been banging on about for the last 10 years, after all.
I think the 'download all tracks' thing etc is just because it's a generic template for an MP3 download page- you can only use the codes once, therefore it wouldn't make sense to have a download all songs option if there were more songs to come, as you'd have to download them all individually anyway, unless you didn't download anything until all the songs had been posted (as the code only lets you download a song once).
I think it's all we've heard of Pulp when it comes to this particular Christmas gift, however it's certainly not all we've heard of Pulp with regards to new recordings!!!
I hope there will be more tracks released, after all you had to enter your email address. They can use those addresses to send emails with a link to the site containing new song(s) that you can access only once.
I have an inkling that we may have already unknowingly heard a very minor excerpt from another song - that being the music played before the band came on stage during their tour, before and as the P.U.L.P lit up.
Would be fantastic. Then again, if they just do a deluxe WLL, that'll be great in itself and I'd be very happy. I'm convincing myself there must be something - even if it's not tonnes more/any more material, I'm hoping they'd not ask for our email addresses if they were going to mothball the whole thing for the foreseeable future (unless it's a technical thing that comes automatically with the generic download site? dunno).

I thought they played a slowed down version of Common People with some added effects?

Didn't you say things go better with a little bit of razzmatazz?
my friend was saying she just thinks it's a nice gift and a farewell. I still haven't listened to the new version because I've been away from home all yesterday and today. I really want it to mean more is yet to come but I honestly don't have a clue. the fact that many fans might never have heard this song could be promising in pointing to new material. I dunno but I really want it to mean more!

If that was a farewell, i guess there will be a message along with it, even a cryptic one like they used to put in their booklet. The fact that there is zero information about this is a good sign. It means they want us to wonder about every possibility : are they breaking up ? recording ? releasing old demos ? They've been mysterious like that, teasing our brains every since the beginning of the reunion, and step after step, it's been moving forward : new website, mystery, tour 2011, mystery, intimate christmas gig without Russell, mystery, new (bigger) tour 2012, mystery, now new recording, mystery... i mean, i see a pattern here.
Yeah i thought about that, but since it's 99 song it cant be that. They're clearly testing the water here, and it's good step in the direction to the studio me thinks.
Now the hard step will be to actually write new songs. They will have to recreate the magic.
Depending on timings, this was either started before Jarvis said there'd be no new material, and it's just a farewell gift, or it was started after he said that, and they went back on it a bit and are indeed testing the water out. I don't think there will be any new material, but it would be lovely to have a new even more grown up Pulp record.
