Sadly I just don't think PULP 'could' headline Glasto any longer? They may have got away with headlining mid size festivals, co-headlining Reading etc last year but I doubt they'd be given Glastonbury again. At least not until the all conquering comeback album.

I think they'd need an album to headline it again. They've only got WLL material that makes them any different from 1998, and it'd be debatable how much they'd play of it bar Sunrise. A headline set with any obscure material would be a massive no-no (though it would be brilliant)
Pulp is a very risqué choice in terms of headlining for me. Whether they'd fit in with the current festival demographic is questionable (and that's coming from a teenager). They would put on an amazing show (without lasers et al, and would be miles better live than the Rolling Stones) but I'm sure if Glastonbury were to take a risk they'd go for a current one; someone like Arcade Fire.
For me - new album or not I'd love to see them headline the Other, less pressure and coverage on them, still a v. good crowd if they go up against the right headliner (e.g Gaga). Though a pre-1994 set in the John Peel tent would be unreal.

Of course they could headline, they love Glasto, and Glasto loves them. If a reformed Verve can headline than there's no reason Pulp couldn't. I don't think they'd need new material either, but perhaps they would need to either say they were calling it a day afterwards or record new material.

Yeah but the reformed Verve hadn't done a festival season when they were signed up to headline Glastonbury, reformed Pulp have done two! I think they'd have to not only have another album out, but for it to be a big hit in order for them headline the Pyramid stage (especially as next year is Glastonbury's 'comeback' year and everyone is expecting really big acts to headline). But Other Stage would be amazing!
People need to take a look back over previous line-ups, nothing special happens after a year off. Sometimes they get big bands, sometimes not so big. If Pulp were to finally call it a day, they could bow out by headlining the Pyramid. The two secret acts on the Park stage in 2011 were hinted as being headline-worthy acts
