As a reaction to the brutal slashing of Sheffield's arts funding earlier this year Jarvis is lending them his Damien Hirst.

Think I'll go and see it tomorrow.

If getting a Hirst specially painted is Jarv's price for paying Damien's Christmas party, what on Earth is the band getting in exchange for the Cruise Show? Their own boat?

Good news, only to be dampen by this piece of news. Whatever!

Good for Jarvis but I don't really like Mr. Hirst or any of the YBAs. But Jarvis seems to associate himself with the group.

Stephen, now you know how Jarvis transact his business - via exchange deals. I kinda figured that out with his strange career decisions (Stars in Their Eyes, Eurostar ad, private Christmas party, endorsing Rough Trade crappy artists on 6 music) Nothing wrong with that. The Cruise show IS their payment.

The Stewart Lee thing is a joke, something which that electric banana website don't seem to have picked up on, but which becomes clear when you look at the page they're quoting from. Not only are the quotes almost entirely different, but Lee has himself as the plagiarist in several of the examples.

The painting is very nice indeed. It's one of Hirst's spiral paintings of a skull that has cubic zirconia encrusted all over it. The painting is actually named 'For Jarvis' and was painted especially for him.
