There's a documentary on BBC4 tonight at 9 - narrated by... Well you can guess can't you, this is a Pulp site after all.
It's part of a Bowie night. The show after it at 10 will feature classic Bowie performances as well as other people he's been involved with including Iggy Pop and Lou Reed. 11pm Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, 12.30 a live concert from 2000, then the first two programmes are repeated from 1.30am.
I am eagerly looking forward to this, being a Bowie freak of many years. I was able to see The Man Who Fell To Earth in the cinema earlier on this week as well.
I've just come here to make myself feel better after reading some sanctimonious tossers slating Jarvis on cookdandbombd.co.uk after he narrated that documentary. I feel better already
I discovered this morning that this was on last night and was already very much looking forward to watching it on iPlayer when I get a chance, even more so since I have come on here and found who narrated it!
On another note I played a gig last night and ended the set with a cover of 'Babies'. I'll link to the video later for you all to pull apart! (It went kind of OK!)
Hi Sarah, I'm Blackcockerel on there... but in eleven years of going on there, I've never posted! Might sound weird, but I mainly use it to find out about new music, comedy etc rather than to actually communicate with anyone, because when things get nasty on there, don't you find they get REALLY nasty?! I don't like stuff like that, which is why this is one of the few forums I actually post on. It's been said before but this forum is one f the few in which people actually treat other people with respect an decency

A superb evening of TV which I have recorded for posterity. Without Bowie and his entourage (Lou & Iggy) and their influence, what sort of music scene would we have now? Pretty much everything I like comes back to Bowie's influence.
The most revealing thing about it all for me (especially looking at the pre-Hunky Dory part) was the feeling that Bowie was more of a performer rather than a musician, and could probably just as easily been an actor.
