Paul, any chance of another Pulp night at any point? We went to the Feeling Gloomy one last time I'm afraid, but yours had the far superior setlist, leading to many regrets on not having attended!

Hey Stephen, there aren't any plans at the moment but never say never. It was brilliant fun doing the last one! It's good to do it when Pulp or Jarvis are playing in London so if there are any more dates in the future, we'd probably do it then.
We're thrilled to welcome DJs from Indietracks Festival for our next club night! Emma, Ian, Alice and Dan will be spinning records by the bands and artists playing this year. This is our fourth annual Indietracks special and they're always great fun ahead of our favourite festival!
We'll be playing our take on indiepop, post-punk, new wave and everything in-between from the likes of...
Allo Darlin' . The Beach Boys . The Beatles . Belle & Sebastian . Best Coast . David Bowie . Camera Obscura . Cats on Fire . The Clash . The Concretes . The Cure . Depeche Mode . Dexys . The Drums . This is on Saturday! Team Indietracks will DJing from 10:30pm so get there early. For £4 membership entry head to http://www.scaredtodance.co.uk/membership/
It wont be all Indietracks music on Saturday, so if you like the older post-punk and new wave stuff we play thatll still be there for you to hit the dancefloor to. Im feeling particularly inspired after watching the beautifully shot Radio On (which well be projecting) which has the most brilliant soundtrack Berlin-era Bowie, Kraftwerk, Devo, Ian Dury.
Check out the trailer for Radio On at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_hiwawj-ts
I'd like to hear lots of stuff from Separations. Fall. Late 70s Bowie. Wire. Beginning to See the light - VU. Henry Rollins Don't dance - Allo Darlin ('cos they won't be playing it!) and any Hefner that's not the usual dancing stuff :)

Was a tad disappointed that despite your looking for requests, the only Pulp song you played at Indietracks was Babies! Unless I was absent for a while and missed some particularly good stuff or something...?
With regards to clubnights, an Edinburgh based one - Unpop - played some rather good music into the wee hours at Indietracks. They even played Cocaine Socialism all the way through, even though it did kill off half the dance floor (apart from a handful of us going mental).
Another club I thoroughly enjoyed was that of Music For Girls, run by a triumvirate including the utterly wonderful Elizabeth Morris of Allo Darlin. Can't remember the last time that I have literally never stopped dancing to a single song in a two hour span before!

Sorry to hear that Stephen. I played Countdown at around midnight along with The Fall, Wire and Henry Rollins Don't Dance. Babies is a bit of a tradition at Inidetracks disco's. Last year every disco played it so it's a song that has to be played from now on. I'm glad you enjoyed Music For Girls and Unpop who I got for the Friday night.
I'm also delgihted to announce that we'll be doing a PULP SPECIAL at Scared To Dance on Saturday 29th September!
It's happening at The Lion (formerly King's Cross Social Club) in London between 9pm and 2am. We'll be playing the bands hits as well as album tracks throughout the night along with our usual music policy. We'll be projecting the bands videos from the Hits DVD at the club too!
Excellent, they'll be more on that night soon once the poster has been finished!
It's a shame you're not doing a freshers event (moving to London for uni in 3 weeks!), I'd definitely come. All the ones so far have been "dubstep/house/commercial/dance" music so a bit out of my taste

A great night last night - had to queue for ages for the upstairs though. As we were at the front of the queue the bouncer stopped letting in, and he said "you won't like it in there anyway", and a few people came out at the same time saying it was no good (not quite sure what that was about or if something happened just before).
We had a great time though, and the DJ played Mile End for me :). Everyone else seemed to be enjoying it loads too - I just thought they were short staffed in there.
I thought Id posted a message on here telling some of you Misshapes to come say Hi, but seems my phone didn't post it.

I'm glad you had a good time! Sorry it was so busy and you had to wait to get in. We were at full capacity by 11:30pm. I believe there was a skirmish on the dancefloor at some point so I would have thought that would have been it. From what I was told it was dealt with quickly and the offenders were shown the door.
We'll be returning to our home at The Lion in King's Cross for a whole lot of dancing on a Saturday night! To get in for just £4 see the details below.
MUSIC
We play indiepop, new wave, sixties pop, post-punk, punk, synthpop, C86, lo-fi and DIY music like...
Allo Darlin' . The Beach Boys . The Beatles . Belle & Sebastian . David Bowie . Camera Obscura . Cats on Fire . The Clash . The Concretes . The Cure . Depeche Mode . Dexys . The Fall . Felt . The Pains of Being Pure at Heart . Pulp . Ramones . Shrag . The Shins . Simon & Garfunkel . Slow Club . The Smiths . Standard Fare . The Shop Assistants . Talking Heads . Talulah Gosh . The Vaselines . The Velvet Underground . Veronica Falls . The Wave Pictures . Wire

Allo Darlin' were in session for Marc Riley on his BBC 6 music show last week. You can hear them playing Capricornia at 47 minutes, then Darren and a new song Bright Eyes from 1 hour and 12 minutes http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01q9vfh
If youre looking for more, our friend and yours Gideon Coe (wholl be DJing for us in April) played an extra track on his show on the same evening. Enjoy!
Doors open at 10pm on Saturday night and there will be free badges for those who come early. Feel free to send in your song requests too!
I heard Veronica Falls in a church ion Shoreditch a few weeks back. Really like the material that I've listened to, but the gig really didn't do anything for me. It was possibly the venue being too big, but I felt that lacked any sort of charisma / stage presence and were a bit boring.
I'd blame the venue. I've seen them a shedload of times and find them hugely compelling onstage, given the right venue, whether that be headlining a festival or playing somewhere like Leeds Brudenell.
Wed love to hear your requests for the club. So far we've got the likes of Jens Lekman, Tom Tom Club, The Smiths, The Vaselines, The Fall, Tigercats, Hefner and Pulp lined up.
If youve never been to the club before, the Moustache Bar is a short walk from Dalston Kingsland and Dalston Junction stations. Theres also an infinite number of buses that pass that way.
We have something very special to give away at the club on Friday night! Pete Paphides has come up with this rather brilliant idea:
I wandered into Audio Gold today with half an idea about this Fridays Scared To Dance. For a while now, Ive been meaning to get a cassette deck to hook up to my hi-fi, as I like cassettes and I still have a cassette player in the car.
I was also thinking that it would be cool if I made a few C90 mixtapes in real time from my own records each tape different to the others hand-decorated them and hid them in different places for people to find at this Fridays club night.
I didnt fancy my chances of sorting all this out today, but when I got talking to one of the assistants there, I explained my idea to him and it caught his imagination. He remembered that they had a machine out in the back that was a bit too beaten up to sell, but worked perfectly fine. I took it home with the relevant cables, and still didnt fancy my chances of being able to hook it up correctly, but as it happened, everything did work fine, and Ive already started recording the first one.
So if youre coming to the club you can get a limited edition, hand-decorated C90 mixtape from Pete Paphides! Simply ask for it at the DJ booth and its yours.
If you would like a membership card for the night then email us before 7pm on the day of the club and send us your song requests!
It's not fair that none of these are in Yorkshire! That is all.
Well never say never for the future.

If you like that sort of thing, there's always Don't Falter! It runs on the first Saturday of the month at Baby Jupiter in Leeds and plays a lot of the same stuff as Scared to Dance, with half-hour sets from the latest hot young indiepopsters (ahem). I promote and DJ it, and Stephen of this parish has been known to DJ as well. Come and say hello on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/dontfalter, or have a look at last month's playlists (complete with handy spotify links) below. Or just come along on May 4th, we've got September Girls playing and everything!
