Instrumental covers of Pulp songs

I mentioned at the RAH meetup that I enjoyed doing karaoke with 'obscure' Pulp songs (most people do Common People; I did 'Help The Aged' and 'This Is Hardcore'). However, Pulp karaoke tracks don't get much more obscure than this. I was listening to Pulp Portfolio 9 and 'Didn't Feel A Thing' came on. I thought it was such a great song, I decided to have a go at making a instrumental version of it. I fired up FL Studio, and this is what I came up with (for best results, set quality to at least 360p):

I wonder what sort of reaction I'd get in a karaoke bar if I sang this.

I've done another instrumental cover version. The song is also obscure but please don't worry, it's not that obscure. It's...Please Don't Worry.

I was off work today, so I opened up FL Studio and started doodling around (as I often do) and by the end of the day, I had this. I might revisit it at some point, but for now enjoy.

Not had a chance to listen yet, but I adore your avatar. Is there a full size version?

Love it! Keep 'em coming. How about Sink or Swim or The Boss?

Glad you like my avatar. Here's the full size version:

It's funny you should mention The Boss, as I made a MIDI of it about a year ago that I submitted to the Pulp MIDIs website, but I had never got round to doing a proper instrumental version of it until you mentioned it.

(This has been revised, please see the post below)

Thanks, I enjoyed these (and would like to suggest 'Don't You Know' if you feel like doing another)

Sorry, that riff running through The Boss gave me a headache!

Yeah, on retrospect that riff is quite jarring. I'll try tweaking it and I'll reupload a new version soon.

EDIT: I made a few tweaks to the song, mainly:

  • Removed the theremin in the background (it was starting to get on my nerves and didn't really add anything to the song).
  • Moved the riff down an octave and changed the instrument to something more friendly to the ears.
  • Changed the main guitar instrument.

Here's the revised version of The Boss. Hopefully it's an improvement on the previous version:

Good stuff! If Pulp made a soundtrack to a Megadrive game I bet it would sound like this
