Special Screening of The Beat is the Law @ Feeling Gloomy

Hi everyone. Following a sell out Pulp Special last month we have another treat for you all.

We're very excited to announce that we're putting on an exclusive screening of the Pulp Documentary of The Beat is the Law: Fanfare for the Common People on Sat 26th May before Feeling Gloomy.

Follow seminal pop misfits/messiahs Pulp on a journey from the darkest industrial depths of Sheffield, through Margaret Thatcher's turbulent 80's to the pinnacle of pop. Known colloquially as 'the Pulp documentary', Eve Wood's The Beat Is the Law: Fanfare for the Common People is a history of the amazing Sheffield music scene, from early 80s post-punk through the globe-conquering house boom and into Britpop. With Pulp as the through-line, the film also delves into the political and economic realities underlying the music, culminating with Pulp's underdog triumph at the 1995 Glastonbury Festival. Made with the full co-operation of the band, 'The Beat Is The Law - Fanfare For The Common People' brings together original interviews, performances, promos, newly unearthed live footage and home videos with a great soundtrack, and featuring original interviews with Pulp's Jarvis Cocker, Russell Senior, Candida Doyle and Nick Banks.

'Not only is The Beat Is The Law excellent pop history, it is compelling social history' Mojo Magazine.

Details: Sat 26th May, O2 Academy2 Islington. Nearest tube Angel.

Film: 8pm-10.30pm; Club: 10.30pm-3.30am

Film £5 advance (plus bkg fee). £6 door. Includes entry to Club Night from 10.30pm.

More info and tickets from www.feelinggloomy.com.

Hello again all,

Thanks to a special deal we've done with the film company, we're now able top show the film free of charge! Doors are still at 8pm. Sadly this does not include free entry to Feeling Gloomy clubnight afterwards...
