oops, sorry Mike I didn't see your thread.  I'll just copy my post here and delete the other thread.

Setlist:

Do You Remember the First Time?
Monday Morning (yes!)
Razzmatazz
Pencil Skirt
Something Changed
Disco 2000
Sorted
F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O.V.E.
I Spy
Babies
Underwear
This is Hardcore
Sunrise
Bar Italia
Common People

Encore:
Like a Friend (he mentioned that some of the people from The Venture Bros. show were in the audience)
Bad Cover Version
Mis-Shapes

I thought they sounded better tonight.  The intro projection was shorter (I wrote them down if anyone cares but I doubt anyone does; they were very impressed with the bathrooms at Radio City), and Jarvis didn't talk as much between songs as he did last night.  The dancers during F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O.V.E. were less distracting this time, maybe because it wasn't such a surprise.  I was happy they played Monday Mornng and Bad Cover Version, and Mis-Shapes was a much better end to the show than the wonky version of Party Hard they did last night.  Is it not possible to play the earlier songs with this line-up, I wonder, or do they just think American audiences won't know those songs??

I think I got some decent photos each night, and some good video of Jarvis' dancing during TIH, but I won't be able to take a good look until I get back to L.A., since my camera cable is not cooperating with me.

Also, got a better look at the merch selection.  In addition to the shirts, posters, towel and tote bag, apparently they had mugs but they'd sold out by the time I got there (by the last song of the opening act, who we couldn't bear to sit through).  They also had I think a sticker pack of album covers for $5.  Hopefully they'll have the mugs back in SF.  This trip has been just what I needed after a rough month and I'm really happy I got to attend these shows! smile.gif

I *love* that wonky version of Party Hard! It was a surprising highlight of Brixton!

They've not been playing much in the way of old stuff since Russell finally disappeared, so I wouldn't worry about it. If you look at the setlists for last year, the only ones with good amounts of old stuff are ones that Russell was at.

My seats were further away for this show, but what a way to go out! Monday Morning is one of my least favorite songs off of Different Class, but it was nice to hear the entire album over the span of two nights. I gasped when they started Bad Cover Version, didn't see that coming at all! They kind of lost the crowd with that, but that was the definitive highlight for me and pushed the second show above the first one in my opinion.

The crowd was a bit more into it too, more people jumping during Common People and all that. However, I'd say This Is Hardcore was better the first night, if only because Jarvis was more into this striptease act.biggrin

So uh both shows were, of course, fantastic, but:

tumblr_m2du5bhRE91qhuyx7o1_500.jpg

highlight, however was probably this charming photo of me and Steve Mackey where I look slightly mortified to be standing next to him

which show did you guys think was better if you went to both? personally I thought the first one was a bit better, but I was excited to hear Bad Cover Version the second night. I met Jarvis the first night and when he signed my O.U. sleeve he said they almost played it he first night. So close!

Awesome that they're still considering playing violin-led songs such as OU without Russell!

Were the shirts being sold there the same ones  on the website?  Or did they have different ones?

All of the merch is the same as what's in the online store, except they didn't have the "I Saw Pulp Live" shirts. I don't remember seeing the messy logo shirt for men/adults but I know they had it in a ladies' shirt. I didn't see the badge set either--I probably would have bought them if they had, after standing in that crazy line!

Tricia, I'm so happy that you were able to meet them! I'm curious to hear more about the meetings, I have to say...

Glad to hear they're at least considering playing older songs (O.U. would be my 2nd choice, after His 'n Hers--maybe tied with Countdown, actually), though I wonder if Jarvis was being completely serious. I wonder if that sub could cut it (ahem).

I wrote about meeting them on my blog (forgive the excessive and possibly frightening background, but you know, whatever). The post I wrote up is really enormous but if you want to read it, here's the link

I told Jarvis he should have played O.U. and he said "Well we'll see about it" but they still didn't play it the second night so I'll be pretty bummed if they end up playing it at one of the other American shows. It's my favourite Pulp song.

Indeed - a real joy to read someone with so much love for a band whose members (Jarvis aside) are probably bemused by any fan attention. Alex, who ran the fanclub would have enjoyed publishing this story I think.

I know it was largely about finally meeting Mr Mackey but I chuckled the most at:

I look up and Mark Webber is bopping down the street staring up at the buildings in a cute little scarf with a backpack on. He looked like a fucking kid going to kindergarten he was SO CUTE!!

Sarah will like that.
