A friend just asked me where to find this TV series and I really have no idea. It's not on the major torrent sites, or on any video websites. And of course it's not available to buy.
Does anyone have it? And do they have any way of sharing it?
When asked about it by Marc Riley on 6Music when promoting Further Comps he mentioned something about maybe streaming it on his website at some stage but y'know Jarvis.
I do have it somewhere that I downloaded off a site a couple of years back. Will have a dig see if I can find it, think it may be on a hard-drive at the folks' house.
Eamonn that would be fantastic! I 'd reeeeeaaaally love to watch these, too!!! I 've been looking in vain for them for quite a while now so I 'd be grateful if anyone could help with that.
Have just found this. Not the actual programme but Jarvis talking about his continuing interest in outsider art: http://www.ica.org.uk/Don%92t%20Call%20Me%20Crazy:%20How%20we%20Fell%20in%20Love%20With%20Outsider%20Art+23537.twl I would love to see the series again. Eamonn, do let us know if you find it and manage to upload it! Despite Jarvis saying that he got the second lowest mark in his year for his dissertation, the experience clearly had a great impact on him! As I write this, I'm sitting marking a pile of art college dissertations. In fact, when Jarvis did his dissertation I was actually working at St Martin's supervising dissertations to supplement my PhD grant - sadly he wasn't one of my students...

Speaking of outsider art, has anyone been to that place they visited on one of the live videos that a man in France had built in his spare time, looked a bit like a castle?
Anyone found a Japanese stripping arcade game for that matter, or a used underwear dispenser...
I was just looking that place up last week: the postman Cheval's Palais idéal.
I have no doubt that the stripping arcade games exist, but the used underwear dispenser sounds to me like an urban legend. Those Pachinko places are everywhere in Tokyo. I got lost in an arcade once trying to find a venue and a stuffed (toy) panda walked up to me.

I have. It is absolutely amazing to think that one man created that all by himself in his backyard from rocks that he collected on his postal rounds.
Apparently he wanted to be buried there, but he wasn't allowed to as it wasn't an approved area for it, so he made a smaller one that he could be buried in at the cemetery!

I'm sure I've heard about the underwear dispensers on From Our Own Correspondent, very serious Radio 4 news programme, must be true. Along with the dogs you can hire by the hour to take for a walk, they look at you adoringly then move on to the next client.

I dunno if this is what ye were all talking about but I was mucking about on YouTube and stumbled upon this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpqMxIthJY4 and there's loads of stuff on the outsider art stuff coming up in the margin. I'd never seen some of this stuff so thank you very much to the uploader.
Yep, looks like they were uploaded yesterday. I couldn't find where I had downloaded them, so it's great that they're finally on youtube. I think it was a three parter, two up so far:
I still find it quite amazing, and impressive that in the months around the release of arguably the most anticipated record of his career, (This Is Hardcore), Jarvis fucked-off around the world with a film crew to make some documentary films on unorthodox artists. Island must have been doing their nut.
I was in St Malo this week and in my travelguide stood something about a place nearby, where a priest made sculptures into the rock. And then something in my head made "ding dong", wasn't that Jarvis first aim in "Journeys Into the Outside With Jarvis Cocker"? It was!!! It was absolute easy to travel by bus from St Malo to Rotheneuf, than 10 minutes walk and I was on these rocks. It was competly different weather than in Jarvis movie: blue sky, sunshine and the sea was turquoise. A few people were there, taking pictures, but it was not too crowded. A lot of these sculptures suffered a lot from the tides and the wind, but it's still an absolute amazing place, you can see a lot of theses faces and demons and animals. I enjoyed this afternoon very much. But unfortunatly, the video is not longer available in Germany because of musicrights and proxy doesn't work. So, my question: is there any possibility, that I can can get it, in a dropbox or someting? That would be great I f you have any interest I can post some pictures of the sculptures here.
here you are. I don't know, if the cross on the neighbour mountain is the grave of the priest, but if, that would be a really lovely place. Do you have any idea, how I'll get the film? It would be so nice to watch it now, after I've been there.
Hi Marion - I'll see if I can have a go later. I'll need to get a new YouTube downloader as they go out of date regularly, my husband does this a lot more often than I do. How many episodes are there, is it just the 2 linked below? Those still work here. No wait, they are 2 and 3, there must at least be a 1 somewhere, here we go:
OK, we have 2 of the episodes, 1 and 3. Apparently 2 is in a different file format or something and won't play. It looks like episode 1 is the one with St Malo in, right at the beginning. My husband has done it for me as when I tried to download YTD for myself, AVG complained it had a Trojan, from 3 different reputable sites like CNET, so I don't really know if I believe it, but I don't want to take the chance. I am uploading them now (slowly). My Dropbox doesn't have space for them. I will let you know where they are when they get there. They'll be there for 2 weeks, until 11 August.
