I've done this one before. Nice new cover for it, though. If you think there's anything from this time period that's been missed off, then please let me know...!
And, obviously, if you're making use of all these lovely new bootlegs whilst you have stuff stashed away that you could share, but won't, then do have a think about what you're doing and consider sharing! Wonderful music has been hidden too long. Set it free!
Oh yes, and the next Portfolio is a Spring 1986 gig. It contains two unreleased and - presumably - unrecorded Pulp songs. I don't believe either of them have been circulated before. One of them only exists on this particular bootleg.
It's also quickly become one of my favourite early bootlegs. Sound quality's not up to much, but the performance is absolutely on fire!
'Tomorrow' was played at Chesterfield Conservative Club in '86. Mark Webber recorded it and a copy reportedly exists in the official 'Pulp archive'. The setlist for that show is known because it appeared in the first Pulp scrapbook.
The 'Tomorrow' page on the wiki is currently incorrect in mentioning the Rock Garden gig. The setlist was initially wrongly placed on that page.

Sounds good! I'm looking forward to this. I'm assuming (well, hoping) that you are referring to "Didn't Feel A Thing" and "Tomorrow".
However, as for 'Tomorrow'....God only knows. The wiki says it 'may' have been played in '86. Not sure where that info comes from. I don't have that gig, and the song doesn't seem to be mentioned in the reviews. Any thoughts on how it comes to be an official 'lost Pulp song'?
I absolutely love the dedication and research and attention for details that a lot of you guys put into the whole recent pulp-of-the-80's "thing" for lack of a better way of expressing with my english :)
I know...I'd honestly love to know what the various members of Pulp would think if they knew. Tell us to stop playing silly beggars and go out get some fresh air?
I suppose there's a chance that this 'untitled' song could be 'Tomorrow'. For want of it being anything at all. It does sound a little improvised, but it is pretty tight. Just a little unfinished sounding. In order to clarify - and reduce all mystery! - this next Portfolio gig is 29th April '86. So, a month before the Chesterfield Tories. I suppose it's feasible. However, it is specified as 'new one' at Chesterfield. When it would be at least a month old.
The 29th April gig also starts with Build Up-->Little Girl. But its third track is "Didn't Feel a Thing". The 'untitled' song appears to be in the three-song encore. I say 'appears to be' because the tape's chopped to bits and it's hard to see where cuts have occurred or where the band have walked off stage etc.
Eamonn re: "the members of Pulp", I've been considering and, indeed, discussing something relating to this. Once I've finished with the 80s CDs, I'm considering organise the sending of five (six?) copies of the CDs to Jarvis and Nick, (both of whose addresses are quite easy to get). Or would this be better done by someone who's still in the Fab Club and able to use their services to send stuff to people? I'm wondering whether any band members might take enough pity on us/me to uncover anything previously covered!
I was also considering the early 80s members, but have not a clue how I'd contact them.
And thank you, Freek! You're not so bad with sort of thing yourself! You don't have anything else lurking do you...? :)
Have redone this to add a bit of th pre-gig chatter at the start of the Gotham City gig. Ripped straight from the DVD. This wasn't previously included on this edition of the Portfolio...
