Short clip from Twitter:

http://t.co/y6Vp96ib - Jarvis Cocker from last night. Mad, but good mad.

I worry about a man of his age acting like that on stage, and I think that might be the most animated I've ever seen Mark on stage!

Was this really from the NME awards?! You know what this means don't you?

Barcroft was right in the Mis-Shapes vs Sorted thread!

My money says that the winning song will be played at the NME awards!

Does this mean that Fred is 'in the know'? Any hints about the selist for RAH please?

Mmm, but I didn't vote for Mis-shapes 15 times, I voted for it once.

I didn't know what the result would be.

Only Barcroft by being Jarvis Cocker could know that he'd perform the song that polled highest.

Either way, it does look very supicious that on the very same day as the NME awards, a winner emerges from the poll that goes on to be played that very night. AND was one of only two songs on the setlist. Coincidence, set up, or Fred's psychic ability? You decide - or maybe another poll could!

Yeah once again, I never made any predictions about NME set lists.

What was the other song they performed anyway? Was it Sorted?

I do find it surprising (and delightful) that they chose to perform Mis-shapes given how much they've slagged it off in the past and didn't deem it worthy of their best of. Had they performed ten songs I wouldn't have expected Mis-shapes to be one of them.

Maybe they thought it fitting, starting out as mis-shapes to receiving an award for Outstanding Contribution 17 years on - or something like that.

Your Sister's Clothes live always had Russell on violin, I'm afraid.

Thanx, they really look like a band that wants more than just a silly reunion ! :D

The guitar are turned up and the synths down i thought, compared to Pulp in the 90s.

Shame they cut most of the speech and a big chunk of Sir Peter Blake's. And you missed some awesome Jarvis dancing on Babies with his guitar

Yeah, but at least they had a short interview backstage. They only showed two out of five of Gallagher's songs too.

All the other artists were complimentary of Pulp too.

What else did Blake say?

He went on to say how much him and Jarvis got on, went to art exhibitions and both shared a love of art. But he seemed nervous and the audience grew restless so I can see why they cut it.

There is a group photo in these week's NME. I think it's the first time I've seen Mark smiling in an official photo.

At least I think he's smiling.

Also I really think he should have kept his glasses on. hmm

They never were a sexy band anyway, except maybe in 95.

Nice page on Pulp with group-shot and gushing tributes from Marr, Kasabian, Two Door Cinema Club and Noel in the NME this week.

There's a Pulp one-page poster too, sadly it's only Jarvis (great pose though, flexing his bicep in front of adoring arms held aloft in the crowd).

is it really an official tumblr? I don't think Jarvis has a direct input to any groups / sites on the internet even if they are 'official'

also very nice photo - great to see everyone looking so happy (they just can't stop after 2012!). Shame about the lack of Russell but I won't dwell on that...

From below that pic:

PULP's PEOPLE:

Noel Gallagher: "I've not seen them for ages and I know Steve and Jarvis very well. It'll be nice to see them, to see them nice as Bruce Forsyth would say. It'll be nice to see them as lads and it'll be great to see Jarvis onstage because it always is, innit?''

Alex Trimble (Two Door Cinema Club): "When I first discovered Pulp they were a band doing something different, you know? They were doing pop songs but in a totally different way. It really inspired me.''

Serge Pizzorno (Kasabian): "Weirdly enough, when Pulp were around originally I didn't really care about them but since they've reformed I've met Jarvis and I've realised he's a fucking genius and a star. I love their music as well. I've become a fan."

Tom Meighan (Kasabian): "I just think about what they were and what they are now and it's amazing. They're very clever with words and music. And Jarvis Cocker's beautiful, he's a lovely guy as well man."

Orlando Weeks (Maccabees): "I think I saw them about four times last summer and the charisma of that man is incredible. I was listening to his Desert Island Discs today and he's just so thoughtful and eloquent and then he goes and gyrates on an amplifier and you still believe it! It was just a real treat to see such a quality frontman y'know? Would I like Jarvis to be my uncle? YES!''

Johnny Marr (Johnny Marr): "They were my favourite bit of the night. Because they seem very comfortable with what people expect of them and what they're about and they give people what they want. Is that all anyone can ask for? It goes a hell of a long way towards it. Pulp are an incredible band."

And for triciathetree, you have some competition on your hands for Smackeyluving:

NME: Who's best dressed tonight?
Pixie Geldof: ''Steve from Pulp. Steve Maackeeeey. He looks bloody dapper doesn't he?!''

Oh and the dumb rich kid sleeping with her English lecturer from Fresh Meat screamed ''Oh my God it's Blur!'' when Pulp walked past. ''Oh no, do you think they heard me? What am I going to do? And I like Pulp as well. Please don't put this in your paper.''
