Right, I dunno if this has been mentioned in another thread, I did look briefly and it didn't seem to be- but I was flicking through NME last week in WH Smiths, and in the "New Albums of 2012" article there was a little bit at the side saying that as well as Pulp playing some gigs, Jarvis was gonna make a solo comeback this year.
It didn't give any more details.. I know people love saying stuff like "the NME will print anything" etc, but I see no reason for them to make it up, espcecially as it effectively rules out the much more exciting (from NME's point of view) prospect of a new Pulp record. So even if a new Jarvis record doesn't materialise this year, there must have been some sort of whisperings/truth to the rumour.. has there been anything else said about this?
Hmm..This reminds me of that girl playing the kazoo on Jarv's latest recording thing I had read about on here a while back. Here : http://www.nme.com/blog/index.php?blog=146&p=11549&title=top_5_things_to_avoid_saying_to_your_mus&more=1&c=1 Maybe there's some connection here? Suddenly everything just clicks..hm
Either or would do me (though I'd prefer a record with Cocker and Senior together again). Really enjoyed Further Comps, interesting to know where he goes next and if he will work with new musicians after Tim's tragic death.
As long as there's some sort of UK tour this year by Pulp or just Jarvis I'm happy, though I'd prefer a Pulp inc. Senior album and tour.... just a final show? Please?!
They hype a Blur album as well though they dont have any more info than us on it. Id say dont trust the NME more than anyone else, BUT, there will definitely be some Jarvis/Pulp material this year.
That bit of news presumes alot though doesn't it? All through last year Jarvis kept saying that he wasn't writing songs at the moment as he was too happy. He was also busy with the Pulp reunion and, so it seems, will be again this year. When is the guy gonna find time to go into a record studio and record an album? No offence, but he's not a quick worker and his 'band' would have had no rehearsal time playing these new songs. Maybe it's just a conspiracy smoke screen for a new Pulp album!
True. Unless the music has been written on and off over the last couple of years and its only the lyrics that he hasnt got round to (no change there then!). The nme for all their faults are huge fans of Pulp and theres always lot of respect shown by them towards Jarvis so I wouldnt rule-out them going on a genuine titbit of knowledge. Id be more surprised if a new Jarvis or Pulp record is recorded or even announced during 2012 though. As saw says they/Jarvis at least are slow-coaches at the best of times.
Does anyone have a bootleg of Relaxed Muscle live? Plenty of Cocker's other solo work is out there. I suppose once the cover was blown they disbanded, and there was too little enthusiasm to tape the gigs before anyone knew what was going on...
Relaxed Muscle just performed a few times. Unfortunately no 'real' bootleg exists, for as far as I know. The Trash club made some videos. Mary can be found on YouTube and The Year of the Dog used to be on their website. I ripped both songs a few years ago, I could put them in the Yahoo-account if I can find them in my 'archive'. I'd love to buy a live release one day.
