Finally figured how to view the mobile Bar Italia. Just saw this this morning - so psyched! After a year of jealously hating all your incredible UK Pulp experiences I finally have the opportunity to see the gang and not jetison all my savings in the process. :)

Strange observation; in the e-mail I got this morning promoting the new tour dates I noticed Russell wasn't in the different class-esque promo picture in the background, suggesting maybe he wasn't going to make the US tour..... but then I noticed Steve was missing as well. Did someone go crazy with the cropping or are we seeing a dramatically different line-up? Or am I just overthinking all this?

I wondered if the missing people on the email was a clue too but if you click on the email to display as a web page, Russell is there. And I can't imagine him being there and Steve not, so I think it's just been cropped badly!

It's just copied from the original reunion press release 15 months ago.

Delighted for the North Americans that can manage to go do this. You've only had to wait 14 years for Pulp to come back. 

Will they sell-out a 6,000 venue? Must be the biggest indoor own-show they've done since the Hardcore arena tour.

Russell will be fine. I am terrified of flying and have done New York from the UK 4 times. Inconsolable tears kinda scared. Once you're up there there's not much to do but drink and get on with it

Hmmm well if they were to do small warm up show the night before on the 10th, I think Irving Plaza would be the most ideal place. Webster Hall, Music Hall of Williamsburg and Bowery Ballroom are all booked for the 10th.

They've not done any small, warm-up shows at any point thus far. I don't see why they would start now. I imagine the smallest shows they played were the Brixton ones, to be honest with you.

I don't think small gigs are part of their gameplan. Maybe if there was new material to debut, though...?

yes they did, they played toulouse - but to be fair that WAS their first date in... what 10 years so they probably needed it.

they also played a fanclub gig in the garage in london, can't remember what year that was. was that technically a warm up one?

Well I bought Radiohead tickets which sell notoriously fast (the show I bought sold out in less than five minutes) but that wasn't through ticketmaster so it might be a bit easier. I guess I don't know what to expect in comparison to buying Radiohead because Pulp aren't as big here but they also haven't played here in like 14 years so lots of people are probably going to be trying to go. Have all your info in ticketmaster so you don't waste time and end up losing good seats

 There's only a set number of pre-sale tickets so if you don't have an AmEx card, the good seats might sell out but you'll still have a chance at tickets on Friday. Hoping that there's still a decent amount of seats close to the stage after the pre-sale

Presale doesn't allow access to any seats.  They only open a limited number in each section.  I couldn't even get into the page for several minutes after the presale started! :(

Also:  if you're getting any seats, I would buy them just in case...

i got two tickets and i know another person who got 2 and another who got 4. my s.o. and i were on 4 computers total trying for 4 tickets (so we could sit with friends) on two machines and 2 tickets on two machines and the 2 tickets we got were the only time we got through.

 

(hi first time poster, long time pulp fan, live in nyc, went to london to see them at wireless festival with my best friend, stood for 10+ hours against the barricade, pulp is my fav, etc. etc.)

 The sellers are just confident they will get lucky on Friday. Or they were sold tickets ahead of time, which some promoters and venues do (which should not be the case since Goldenvoice doesn't do that from what I gather).

It is not allowing to pick more than 1 ticket, and the results are always rows in the back or on the upper levels?

Ticketmaster is just beyond corrupt. $14.95 service fee? And half the tickets somehow are immediately sold to scalper sites, like Ticketnow (which, surprise, surprise is owned by Ticketmaster) and might explain the scarcity of good seats. Wasn't scalping, like, illegal at some point? A mailing list pre-sale or something would be really nice, but oh well... also if you can't get any tickets now Craigslist is a little more reasonable, you'll usually find people stuck with extra tickets at the last minute and willing to part with them for face-value or close to it..

Another impossibly fast sell-out....was it 2 minutes? I'm hoping the general sale won't be so ridiculous. When I bought tickets to the Brixton show I was able to get floor seats without much trouble, but that was on a different system than Ticketmaster. I now have mezzanine tickets to the NY show as a backup, but hopefully we can get better seats tomorrow morning

Checked out the second pre-sale to see if we could get better tickets than we got yesterday, and the best hit we got was first row of the 3rd mezz. Got some other hits for crappier mezz seats and some orchestra seats waaaay off to the side, but nothing better than our current seats (1st mezz row b near the middle and on the aisle). Will try again tomorrow for elusive double letter section 3/4/5 orchestra seats again tomorrow.

I think tomorrow is your best bet for double letter anyway because looking at scalper sites I'm not seeing an AAs available which makes me think that a lot are still available for general sale. Fingers crossed. I wish I could have the time to pick a section on Steve's side but I'm just going to go with best available and hope I get anything decent

I'm trying to get three tickets (for me, my wife and a close friend/fellow Pulp obsessive) anywhere. No luck today. Should I keep trying or is it best to save my energy and steel my nerves for this time tomorrow?

I honestly wouldn't hold your breath for front row...I'm a photographer here in NYC and I shoot a lot of shows... At seated venues, very often the best seats front and center are reserved by "important people" and never even placed on sale. It's messed up, but it's the politics of music unfortunately. At least at GA venues, the VIP section is up in a balcony somewhere and not taking away the best spots from big fans.

Also on the conspiracy theorist end, I will never not be convinced that the scalpers have an "in" somewhere that allows them to poach off best seats...esp. since at least one of the major re-sellers is owned BY ticketmaster. How that is legal, I do not know.

Case in point- Someone I know just now mentioned online how a friend of theirs got 5th row middle orchestra seats today and the venue just called them and let them know that those seats had been released "accidentally" and they weren't supposed to have them and that they would have to be moved.

I hope you real fans got your ticket, I tried to see if I could buy one at 7am just to see if I could, and I couldn't even get 1 ticket for best seat available... I kept refreshing and tried at exactly 7AM... I hope I have luck w/ the SF show I want to go to.

 

Actually at 5 after 7 I got into the processing / waiting area though it hasn't changed from a 15min. estimated time for the last ten minutes.

At 10am on the dot, I was offered one ticket in the back of third mezzanine, gave it up, and it pulled up nothing. Everything was gone by 10:01. NYC and SF are both going to need second shows.

Hey Bort, that was my first offer too! I said eff that and went back in and asked for the high price tix and got nothing available. Then I tried a third time for best available and got offered A in the 1st mezz. Way on the side, but that's fine. I would keep checking, tickets will often show up mysteriously.

I saw a mention of the 15 minute waiting room on Twitter, but it's never happened to me. If anyone is trying for SF tickets (assuming Goldenvoice has the same system as TM, which it may not), don't do the continuous refresh thing, it just slows you down and could lock you out (mistaking you for a scalper, ironically).

Me and a few of my friends tried at the same time. I got orchestra row o 700s but my friend got row L 600s so I had her buy those. Wish I had bought the 700s so I could have given them to someone who deserved it instead of scalpers probably getting it but I'm so excited that I got tickets!

For the SF show, they put people in a virtual waiting room and pull people out randomly to buy tickets. It took me three hours to get through on the Coachella presale last year. And for Refused, most people that were waiting were alerted within 30 seconds that tickets were gone, apparently.

We got Row J on the floor in the 200 section during yesterdays presale. So glad we bought them because the best I pulled up today was in the balcony. Its still a great view no matter where you sit.

Most of the Pit is on stubhub right now..how sickening.

Yeah and the pit is going for outrageous prices. Sort of sad I didn't get on Steve's side but I'm certainly not going to complain. I'm just glad I got some at non scalper prices

I was at Radio City last night for Antony and the Johnsons and the first mezzanine is great....! Actually any seat is great.

I have a double letter seat for the show on the 11th and I received a real hard copy ticket. The will-call only decision for the new show must have made some sort of difference because this round of ticket buying was so much more enjoyable than the first round.
