I posted this link earlier in the Morrissey thread but it Jazza to notice the important quote, I presume my mind wouldn't accept it.
"Pulp fans, though, will be sad to hear that Jarvis has no plans to tour with his old band again.
"It felt like we did ourselves justice," he said about the festival shows Pulp played in the summer. "For all of us, it was something we wanted to prove we could do."
I don't necessarily believe it but he must have told Dave Haslam this, 'Pulp fans, though, will be sad to hear that Jarvis has no plans to tour with his old band again.' So he was "quoted as" rather than actually saying it. That's partly my point!
I think it's lazy journalism. They should have quoted him directly if he actually said it. More likely they extrapolated from the quote about the summer gigs being a good way to do the reunion. I mean I don't think there'll be much more, but given how cagey they've all been for the past year since the reunion was announced, the fact that he's said they'll do gigs in the spring suggests to me that's fairly certain.
Weener, it was quoted at the time. Jarvis was doing a talk at Manchester town hall and said they were considering some shows in the Spring, that's all.
He definitely said the same thing in Cheltenham, rather vaguely, there might be something in the spring. But as someone has already said, something, or a couple of shows, does not constitute a tour, which seemed to be the specific question he was asked when he said no.

I think a tour could take the shine off it for them. They're people who are doing this for fun, and for no other reason. Hence, I suppose, why they liked the novelty of playing loads of festivals and then playing their own amazing two gigs at Brixton. Rather that than the dull trundle around the sort of venues they were playing either side of '96.
