I remember being really pissed off when the song wasn't on Hits because Jarvis thought it sounded like something from a musical (hate to break it to you Jarv, most of Different Class does).
The album was called Hits, Mis-Shapes was their second biggest hit, Underwear made the cut and wasn't even a single... So don't call it Hits!
So yeah, bit annoyed I was, especially as that was the song that got me into the band in the first place.
Then with the reunion tour they were performing it again. Yay! Have they decided it's actually rather good or just throwing in a crowd pleaser?
And completely seperate note (because the song started playing as I was typing): Anyone else dislike the opening bit of Pencil Skirt?
Have you heard the one interview they gave this year, to Steve Lamacq in May? Jarvis said that he/they grew tired of the song cos it was too naive or something but decided they might as well give it a go when rehearsing. They duly practiced it, thought it sounded great and the rest is, y'know, history.
I think the intention was for it to have double A status, and all the radio play and video that goes with it, but the behemoth that was Common People rendered the idea a bit pointless.
