There's a cool website, can't think of the name now, where you can source sampled parts of songs, and play them next to the original. Miner's Strike is on it. In that context you can hear the Burt sample better.
I'll see if I can find it. How many Pulp songs use samples? I remember being surprised when I found out wickerman used a sample because I didn't think their style of music often used samples.
Okay so the guitar (?) at about 3.27 in LDOTMS is also heard at about 4.37 on SAG... I'm surprised they even bothered using a sample, I wouldn't have even picked up on that bit of music. (Am I saying they could have just strummed their own version and not credited it? Yes. Yes I am.)
Actually, The Professional contains several samples. However, I can only identify one with some certainty; Requiem Pour Un Con by Serge Gainsbourg. It's in the account.
I might be particularly stupid, but I didn't realise that this was a Wickerman sample 'til I was at the Brixton gigs. I heard that particular bit and thought "Oh right! Willow's Song!"
I think I'm still a bit traumatised by hearing Isobel Campbell do bad things to the original several years ago...
