Working Title of Seductive Barry
Permalink

Hi guys & gals,

Just been looking at the PulpWiki Recording Sessions page and it says that the working title of Seductive Barry is/was Sex Symbols.

But I always thought that its working title was Love Scenes?

Any one want to shed some light on the subject?

Regards,

Neve's Bro

As far as I'm know they were both working titles: initially 'Sex Symbols' when the track was first demoed in January/February '97 and later 'Love Scenes' when it was first played live in October '97.

Seductive Barry was a working title too - they used the suffix/prefix 'Barry' on a lot of songs before arriving at final titles as some kind of band in-joke (see also Barry Crusoe). I guess after they'd performed it as Love Scenes they decided they preferred the working title. So the lineage must have been Sex Symbols > Seductive Barry > Love Scenes > Seductive Barry.

Did that stem from My Legendary Girlfriend when they were looking for a Barry White/Pet Shop Boys hybrid sound and subsequently stuck whenever they came up with an instrumental that sounded in a similar vein?
