The order tracker on seetickets says now :

"Tickets are in stock and will be despatched shortly to the address provided."

I wouldn't worry about it Leo.  I always book through See Tickets and that's a fairly standard email, and they almost always send out tickts v near to the date itself. I haven't been let down by them yet.

I recieved my tickets from SeeTickets in the post this morning, I got that email as well so I guess you should expect them in the next couple of days. If not then the worrying can start.

I got an email from them today saying they had been dispatched.

Sorry if I missed previous message, but is there a meeting up planned before the 31rst show near the venue? It would be nice meeting some of you!

Saw at Brixton Academy on the farewell (We Love Life) tour. Amazing.

Have to say that Wireless had me in tears all the way through, I was so happy.

Looking forward to this show, going on my own so that I can concentrate on them.

Bumped, just in case anyone might swap. Thanks.

Hello everyone
I'm new on here too. We have tickets for Thursday standing but due to an unavoidable clash I can't do that night now. Would anybody fancy swapping for Wednesday night tickets? Four for preference but three would be amazing.
Thanks to any kind souls out there. I had to miss Wireless at the last minute as well so will be gutted if I can't go to this one too!

ETA: They are physical tickets, so would be able to swap face to face (if that's reassuring as I have no standing here)

bit stupid, the headline of this article (http://www.festivalrepublic.com/news/general/pulp_announce_support_band_for_their_london_o2_academy_brixton_show) is Pulp announce support band for their London O2 Academy Brixton show but then doesn't go on to say who it is

Yes. He was also at Auto - I seem to remember he was pretty good, tho' he had a habit of saying "I'm from Chiswick. SO?!"

Looks like I'm not psychic then, I had an odd dream Shampoo reformed to be support & covered Blur's PopScene.

Weed, as long as the seller has 100% feedback & more than 5 or 10 transactions I really wouldn't worry.
That's the good thing about ebay.
The bad thing is the price!
Not that I'm taking the piss: my tickets are from ebay too. 31st I have already (etickets tho', so I guess doesn't quite answer your question sorry!).
1st I only won the auction for today. Stupid price, but I HAVE to be there lol.

Cheers James - went back and looked at the seller. It all seems ok (although they did list the show under 'comedy'!) The tickets do seem to be selling for a bit more now than I paid. One of my mates decided he coulded go and rather than doing the right thing and selling at face value he's stuck it on ebay for twice the price he paid. I'm hoping he's left lumbered with it!

Hi All,

I thought I was going to be on holiday on 1st, but now my plans have changed so I desparately need a ticket for the second Brixton show! Are there any kind souls out there with a spare standing ticket for sale at face value? I'll get one from Ebay if I have to, but I can't stand the thought of giving money to those horrible touts! I'm also a bit concerned following some comments on here about dodgy tickets. Any tips for how to avoid them gratefully received.

Thank you!

Anna

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone knows what time gigs normally finish at Brixton - I'm guessing about 11 since doors open at 7? Will I be alright getting the tube and stuff as a young lady on my own at this time of nighthmm

Little bit worried because I don't know my way around and I know Brixton has a bit of a reputation...

The tube isn't so scary at that time really, but if you are worried you could do worse than meeting up with the crew beforehand (http://baritalia.activeboard.com/t43819107/31st-august-brixton-meetup/)... I'm sure someone will be heading in your general direction afterwards and would be happy to travel with you.

I went to Morrissey and he finished at 10.30

Getting to the tube will be fine, majority of the crowd is going in the same direction.

Cheers. I would definitely be up for meeting up with others...I'm going on the second date though, doesn't seem to be much planned meet up wise so far?  I'm still trying to sort out where I'm staying but I think it will be at some halls of residence place in Pimlico.

I'm coming down from the Midlands. I wouldn't normally consider going to a gig so far afield on my own but it's my first (and possibly last) chance to see Pulp so I can't miss it!smile

You'll be fine. I go to loads of gigs on my own - have even flown out to Dublin alone for one once. Most times you end up talking to someone there. I prefer going on my own to the hassle of dragging a friend along who is not as into the band as you, and then you have to worry about them being ok, and if they don't mind you leaving them near the back so you can go and get crushed in the excitement at the front.

The tube station at Brixton is just a short walk away from the venue, and it's easy to find. It'll be busy with lots of people heading back to the tube on the way out, so v unlikely you'll get lost or run into any trouble.

Hello broken biscuit,

I'm going to the 1st Sept gig; am also a young(ish) woman going on my own. I'm pretty new to gig-going generally, let alone on my own but I figured it'll be cool once I'm in the venue 'cause I can try and get near the front without worrying where friends are etc. (as mentioned by anet). Nonetheless, like you, I'm a tad apprehensive about getting away and home on my own. I'm staying in Shoreditch so will be getting a bus up there direct from Brixton. I'm thinking London will probably be pretty busy still at that time and it's not like I'm going out to the suburbs so should be ok.

If you want to meet up with another loner, do say and we could keep each other company!

Hi folks - first time poster

I have 2 standing tickets for the Brixton Academy gig on 31st August and I would like to swap them for seated tickets *for the same night* if possible. I'm guessing SOMEONE out there really wanted standing tickets but they'd sold out so could only get seated ones upstairs at Brixton. Well, here's your chance.

I'm only interested in a straight swap, in person, in London. Preferably before the day itself, please. PM me if you're interested.

Fanks n' that!

*edit* - meant to say, I want to swap for seated tickets for Weds night, not Thurs 1st Sept.

First off, Hi folks - new to posting on the forums here, but was looking to see if there were any planned meetups for the second night. I don't often go in for that sort of thing, but for Pulp I may make an exception; and it would at least be nice to know if something was happening or not??

My sister and I are also coming down from the Midlands (Rugby specifically) on the second date, but rather than staying over we'll likely be getting a train back after the gig - if not all the way then at least some of the way home. If anyone wants folks to travel/walk/etc with we'll be happy to accompany!
The only possible issue going there, is that we plan to go pretty early on if we can - we ended up buying etickets off someone else (which I've never done before) so there's some slight paranoia about them working properly - so given that, we're planning to try and be there as early as possible to make sure that if they don't work we can find *shudder* a tout.

I've only been to Brixton once myself, but it was absolutely fine coming out and walking around. No problems at all, and especially with the crowd milling around it's a generally good atmosphere.
The gig I went to back then finished at just after 10.30 - so I'm assuming that's the standard shutting down time for the venue. It's kind of good for me, 'cause it means I'm more likely to make a train that gets me closer to home in time without missing any of the set - but if they end up playing longer, there's no way I'm leaving early! I'll sleep in the station if I have to!

Thanks everyone, I'm not so worried about being on my own anymore, although it would be more fun if I wasn't!

LadyCoxy- Sounds good, we will have to make plans. :)

SoundOfConfusion- I guess I will be heading back in the same general direction as you afterwards, but I live in Shrewsbury so I don't think there's much hope of me getting a train home at the time of night. Sleeping in the station would certainly save me a few quid! I think I might be able to get back to Birmingham but I don't really want to hang around New Street on my todd. Still looking into cheap hotels at the moment.

Don't worry about your etickets, they're used quite widely now I think.

Woohoo I've found a face value ticket for the gig on the 1st, I'll be at both, hurrah!!! If they play exactly the same set both nights I am gonna be annoyed. But still, it'll be amazing regardless. Be a bit weird as I'm going to the second gig by myself, never been to a gig by myself in London!

Hi team. Anyone been to gigs at the O2 Brixton and know what they're like about photography? I've only been to Islington and I know most of the staff so it's not an issue... the venue page on TicketWeb says "General Policies: No video or recording devices allowed No food or drink to be taken into the venue". Well, my compact camera does have a video mode, technically, but then so does my phone if we're being pedantic about it... Don't want to flash my way through the set or anything antisocial but would be nice to get some souvenirs of the night(s) out.

Fine with cameras and phones, just don't take an umbrella.  They took my wife's off her when she went in for Morrissey concert.

Cool thanks.

For two years, until about May, I used a walking stick. Truth be told, I'm wondering if I might need it on Thursday if I stand up and jump up and down all night on Wednesday - matter of knowing one's limits but I've gone for stalls tickets anyway.

But to get to the point: the number of times people at security points / venues have asked me if I need it... No, I just think it looks natty, obviously it's entirely decorative. Yes, I need it.

Yes they do. But charge is per item, so if you can bundle everything into one bag or summat, it saves a couple of quid.

So it does seem these are the last pulp gigs then? Of course lets not count electric picnic as it's a festival. It is a bit annoying though, I was disappointed Blur did t in the park after Hyde Park. But oh well.

I hope to hear...
Happy Endings (of course)
His n Hers
Your Sisters Clothes
Countdown
Trees
Mis Shapes
Inside Susan
The Fear
Party Hard
Help The Aged

We already know all of different class will be covered over the 2 nights (maybe not monday morning, we'll see)

what im hoping to hear (but probably won't) include the boss, death II, countdown, razzmatazz, lyndhurst grove, mile end, OU, Anorexic beauty, glory days and of course wickerman. I am probably being ridiculously hopeful and unrealistic but to be honest if they so much as come on stage I'm happy :)

Beginning to regret just going to the first night now as I fear one night will be the festival set and the other like Le Bikini 2nd set.

I'd settle for the Glastonbury set with My Legendary Girlfriend

hahah i know what you mean about the different sets! I saw Radiohead in Victoria Park 3 years ago on the first of two nights. They played a set with more album tracks/rarities etc. and next night did a more standard set. Pulp don't strike me as that kind of band, but I'm seeing them tonight and I'd be gutted if tomorrow night was the one where all the great songs from the Le Bikini encore and others such as Like A Friend etc. turned up. mind you this is my third time this summer so i'm just glad to be seeing them again..

where the hell was Sheffield: Sex City though?! :P .....and I've given up hope of hearing David's Last Summer haha

you already saw Like a friend at Glastonbury you GREEDY BOY

and yeah that's a point, out of all the songs on that encore list picture uploaded long ago, sheffield:sex city is the only one yet to be played, COULD IT BE?!?!? (though come on now, DLS is a much better use of that time)

i can imagine it now..

"for now, this is indeed pulp's last summer, but this song isn't about pulp's last summer... it's about david's..." *BAO BANAO BAO ba BAO*

I expect this but pessimistically expect tonight will be the festival set.  I know this was the one many of us, self included, got on the pre-sale, but whenever a band does multiple nights I always seem to miss the best night.  Having seen/heard the festival set at Hyde Park I am selfishly hoping for something a bit different.  Razzmatazz as a bare minimum.

sorry Pip - they did indeed play rarities including the majority of my 'wishlist' honestly holding back the tears of joy when they started playing wickerman! (despite the people around mes somewhat bewildered faces) and countdown, OU and razzmatazz! still in shock and even managed to get a setlist. Such an amazing night and GREAT setlist. With Party hard and Sheffield sex city on the encore section with misshapes and razzmatazz I have high hopes for tomorrow too!

Hi Jazza, I had three from my wish list too - Countdown, Razzmatazz and O.U. - couldn't believe it! Are you able to upload a photo of the setlist? I'd love to print off a copy. Lucky you getting that! What a great night and another to come tomorrow!!!

Just back-what a set list-what a night! If I was downstairs I think it would be up there withthe top 5 of all my gigs. Unfortunately most people upstairs seemed more occupied with their iphones checking the football transfers(really) when the lesser known songs(for the common people)were played. Just loved it! Don't have a ticket for tomorrow but can it be bettered?

That was fun wasn't it! Though when he did the introductory speech to Bad Cover Version I really, really, really wanted to let myself believe he was talking about Seconds. Not to be... saw whoever got the Setlist - the main thing I saw on it that got missed out (probably to make room for Underwear) was Sheffield Sex City, so maybe tomorrow!

Probably not.  Well unless they throw in My Legendary Girlfriend, Dishes and Live Bed Show.   Was right in middle, probably between 4 and 12 people from front depending on movement.  Best Pulp gig I have been to since Garage in around 1993.  Almost did every single from Countdown through to Hardcore, and The Wickerman was totally unexpected.   Only puzzle is just one song from This Is Hardcore.  Still hoping they play that album live in its entirety.

Don't have ticket for tomorrow, but not sure I could do that again...

Great setlist. Two firsts for me Countdown and O.U and it was great to hear Have You Seen Her Lately and Razzmatazz. My only change would have been to drop Wickerman and include Pink Glove and Joyriders. I love it how Jarvis approaches all the songs with so much enthusiasm these days. 1998 - 2002 it sometimes seemed like he was going through the motions, especially with Common People. Tonight was definitely up there as one of the best gigs I've been too.

The crowd were a lot better than at Hyde Park - much more animated, although it might have been because I was nearer the front. I was standing near a really tall girl. A couple of times during Underwear Jarvis pointed at me but I am guessing it was probably the tall girl : (

Incidentally Jazza, did they drop anything from the setlist to make way for Underwear?

Our posts crossed. Damn. I probably would have preferred that especially the extended version. They didn't play it at Hyde Park either.

Incredible... Who'd ever really expected Wickerman? And Countdown so very early on - I nearly split open. I wonder what was dropped for Underwear.

When he said that it wasn't "only" going to be B-sides and rarities, the possibility of a trawl through the catalogue seemed in the offing and that was very exciting... even paying lip-service to Silence. Have You Seen Her Lately, wow.

However, in response to speculation about their future post-2011, the fact that Countdown was as archival as they got bodes well... any more of the older stuff would have felt like a goodbye. This didn't.

Sure, there are a couple more gigs, but I can't see tomorrow being terribly different to tonight, and I imagine Ireland will be more akin to the Wireless set. I don't think we've seen the last of them.

It was great. I probably was slightly further back than Argee though not much. I was towards the right of the stage. Most of the people in front of me were dancing and jumping and the people around me. Not static or getting in the way like at Hyde Park. I wasn't close enough to get Jarvis's sweets or drinks.

...yeah, it was a little low-key up there. Everyone sat down during Countdown, OU and Wickerman. I was at the Academy recently for Suede's Dog Man Star play-through, and that was much, much more lively in the circle.

Ugh!! Work blocks most ticketing websites, so I'm always too late to be standing! Still, lucky to be there seating or otherwise.

Mind you, they were pretty tight on time as it was and didn't stay off-stage very long before the encores... could Underwear and Sex City really be a straight swap when one is nearly twice as long as t'other?

(I prefer to believe not, as Sex City would have been incredible... would the rest of the band have caved in so easily had it been such an epic facing the chop?)

Well that was enjoyable wasn't it biggrin

I really expected them to play almost the same setlist as Hyde Park but as Jazza and others have mentioned they decided to throw in some rarities, wow I wasn't expecting that. I was on the barrier to the right of the stage, the ringing in my ears is telling me I was quite close to the speakers. Jarivs really was on top form and so were the rest of them for that matter, the setlist was a really nice mix and i think the crowd were pretty decent as well. Feeling a little hyper atm smile

The only problem now is because I'm currently poor and i expected them to play the same setlist as Hyde Park on both nights I only bought a ticket for the Wednesday. But after that set I just have a feeling they might throw in some other surprises on the 2nd night so now being poor is not important I NEED a ticket!
I've replied to every reasonable add on Gumtree so hopefully someone will relpy to me, if anyone has a spare standing or 2 on here let me know please.
I hope emails are fine on here davejnoel at gmail.com

I think on reflection the above is right that Live Bed Show is what was actually skipped; SSS was part of a list of what looked like a 4-song encore, maybe just ran out of time with all the banter.

Can't wait to see it.

I gotta be honest, I want to hear Wickerman. I'd have prefered a route into Seconds EP or summat like The Professional but I guess I'm getting what I expected.

Enjoyed the thoughts on this not being the end.

Anyone know if they've filmed the tour?

Would love to go tonight, but given last night was more or less a perfect set (maybe another Hardcore song would have been good) I'm not regretting it too much.  I'm sure they will be back playing another London venue before too long.

They played...

DYRTFT?
Countdown
Lip Gloss
OU
Have You Seen Her Lately?
Something Changed
Disco 2000
Sorted
Wickerman
Bad Cover Version
Babies
Underwear
This is Hardcore
Sunrise

Common People

Encore

Razzmatazz

Does anyone know if Jarvis works out these days? I know he's slim but performing for two hours at that intensity at the age of 47 is pretty remarkable. And it was probably more intense than the solo shows I have seen. Someone on this forum mentioned a few years back that he had to give up smoking because of a health condition - do you think he took up the gym at the same time? I can imagine that he keeps that quiet if he does. Doesn't really go with the image I suppose!

mmm, as I am the same age, 47 ain't that old.  Must confess it was a bit sweaty down the front, and Jarvis was as drenched as I was.  Not known for going down the gym myself, but I cycle and walk a fair amount, so have some sembelance of fitness, though sadly not quite as slim as I was even 6 years ago.   He probably just collapses in a heap after the gig and re-hydrates the next day.  That's what I'm doing.

Low point of gig last night was when some bloke in front of me took off his shirt.  Not very pleasant, and I had to sharply move a few feet to the left.

Jarvis has always been a slim guy. I guess that is the way he is build. I know some older men who aren't going to the gym either, but are also staying slim and always have been.

Yes.  Russell arrived belatedly on stage for the encore as well.  Probably had planned to do something else ahead of Razzmatazz until they realised the time.  Three backing singers replaced him for BCV / Wickerman.

Hawley generally acted like the sub coming on and off, surprisingly he first appeared for Lip Gloss.  Only time I think everyone (backing singers included) were on stage was at the end of Sunrise.

Have You Seen Her Lately?
Something Changed
Sorted
Sheffield Sex City
Live Bed Show
Babies
Joyriders
The Fear
Sunrise
Bar Italia
Common People

Possibly up to 4 of these, but I wouldn't expect The Fear as they don't seem to be playing anything bar This Is Hardcore off Hardcore.   It seems to be an album they are choosing to forget.

Acrylic Afternoons and Like a Friend may happen, but I would also expect one surprise ala Wickerman.  As I won't be there, they are sure to play My Legendary Girlfriend.

I suspect that has a lot to do with it.  Only other song that has got an airing at a festival is Party Hard unless you include Like A Friend from the same era.

I guess that the set tonight is a core nine songs (DYRTFT?, Something Changed, Disco 2000, Sorted, Babies, This is Hardcore, Sunrise, Common People, Mis-shapes) plus nine others from Separations onwards.

I really enjoyed last nights gig. Got there really early so I could be at the front unfortanly had to leave towards the end of Common People as had a 11.30 train to get back to Leeds.
I still can't believe they played Countdown was so shocked it came so early in the set as well.
I may have squeed like a little girl.

I did notice they seemed to have a few issues with the sound Jarvis seemed to keep asking them to turn it up. I guess the guys where having issues hearing it but sounded great our end.

I did notice Jarvis seemed to be getting a little mad at a few things but he was great with the crowd and was nice to see Richard as well.

I am SOO excited to finally be seeing Pulp in the flesh after all these years! Being a yank, and too young to appreciate them in their heyday, I vowed that if they ever re-formed, I would fly over and see them play...and now I've got the chance.

My boyfriend (who lives in England) and I will be going tonight at Brixton Academy.

Does anyone know if there will be tour t-shirts for sale at the show? I'd really love to get one if they're available!

No tour t-shirts as such, but you can get one that says "I SAW PULP LIVE" and there are some with album covers + common people cover.  All at http://www.iffytonstores.co.uk/pulp/

Haven't got anything to add to the comments about last night that people haven't said already. Just that it was everything that I could have hoped for in a Pulp gig and more! Also, the mere mention of "Silence"...just to hear the name of the song pass Jarvis's lips...made me laugh out loud.

Here's to tonight!

Great gig! Wickerman and Have You Seen Her Lately were particularly good to hear. Eamonn made a sign saying 'Russell you are the one' that Jarvis read out. Jarvis also accepted a Mexican flag and a packet of Skittles from the crowd. He also had a little hissy fit with Mark near the end for making noise whilst he was talking. Can't wait for tonight!
