I was browsing on Pulp's Last.Fm page and saw that someone posted these dates:
14 October Hollywood Palladium Los Angeles 15 October Treasure Island Festival San Francisco 18 October Paramount Theatre Seattle 19 October Orpheum Vancouver 21 October Métropolis Montreal 22 October Massey Hall Toronto 24 October Aragon Ballroom Chicago 27 October Roseland Ballroom New York 28 October Roseland Ballroom New York
Can anyone verfiy these dates? It'd be outrageous if these were true.
Well, if this list is phony, then it's a pretty good phony.
The venues are the right venues for Pulp, and I haven't found any date conflicts. Treasure Island Festival seems like a good fit as well. I think this might be the real deal, sans Russell.
On the other hand, the band had a lot of negative things to say about touring in America in their recent Lamancq interview. Sounds like they still have some emotional scars from the experience.
So to disappoint you guys, I had it straight from the horse's mouth' ie a certain Mr. Webber, that there are no plans to tour America especially in October He actually said that if there were plans to tour the States he ceratinly didn't know about it. (Those dates in the last weeks of October clash with Mark's Experimenta Weekend at the BFI, something he was very adamant about).
So you heard it here folks. LastFM are talking balls. Sorry.
So let me just state it outright: What, if anything, can we do to get Pulp to play some shows in America? Create a Facebook page? Pester their booking agent? Write letters to Barack Obama? Let me know, I'm willing to give this a shot.
Why do you reckon they're not bothering with the US then, just because it's so much of a slog to do it? Cause Blur didn't tour the US either. It can't be due to the fact they're not popular enough, I mean I saw Jarvis play at pretty big venue in LA, which was pretty much sold out. Hmmm.
The Lamacq interview is pretty great, but basically they said how much touring America sucked. I'm pretty sure you can still listen to it, the pulp bit is about an hour in.
