That's going to upset a few people who might be going to Barcelona with the added bonus of it being the first Pulp show for 9 years!

French @~#s...Barcelona was gonna be the comeback :(

Edit: This is a proper show, rather than a festival yeah? So they'll probably test out the entire summer set of songs they'll play (18 maybe for example) when most festival dates will see them play 12 as a sub-headliner and 15 or 16 as the main headliner.

Wouldn't be surprised to see another French date or two, Paris perhaps. What's the capacity of this place in Toulouse?

The venue capacity is something like 1500.
This show will be the FIRST and ONLY show before the Primavera gig.

i've just booked a ticket!

well, i hope i have.  i can't speak french.

if they do announce earlier dates then i'll just sell it or write it off - it's only 28.

i hope to god they don't play any secret london gigs from 20-23 may, i'm in berlin then and i will cry if they do.

This is just what I've heard directly from the venue.
The band will stay for a few days in Toulouse (for a rehearsal residency).

Kind of worked out well for me this. I hate flying so I'm heading to Barcelona for Primavera by train. Just bought a ticket for this gig so looks like I'm now going via Toulouse instead of Montpellier as I was previously looking at.

One thing I just thought of, if Jarvis does the in between songs banter in French not being able to understand him because my own French is basic could be strange!

Well, it's not actually the same venue. The old one was destroyed in 2001 when a factory exploded (just 10 days after September 11th).
But yes, I think it must remind them the good old days.

I've never been in Toulouse of my life, but this will be a premiere: I've bought my tickets for the show.

nisw, do you when those tickets may go on sale exactly?

I'm a bit annoyed they haven't emailed the mailing list about this which would have stopped touts from getting tickets :(

I will be in Barcelona for Primavera. Is there any way I can swing this and make it back to Barcelona early on the 26th? The bus is 80 euros and doesn't return until 1530, which is too late because I really need to be back by noon at the latest? Are there any cheaper ways to travel?

Did Blur play 2 hour sets back before the split? I know Pulp sets were always on the short side at 12-16 songs for headlining gigs.

I want a 220 minute set like LCD Soundsystem did for their farewell shows this week, but that will never happen at a festival.

I saw them post Coxon in '03, headlining Reading. I don't remember exactly but it didn't seem long, despite that I wasn't enjoying it. I remember a particularly shite version of Parklife.
I have to say they totally redeemed themselves in '09 tho'.

There's no way Pulp will play close to 25 songs. Primarily for two reasons.

1: Their songs tend to be on the longer side. Sure, there's plenty of 3-4 min gems but stuff like Sunrise, Hardcore, Common People, FEELING CALLED LOVE, Live Bed Show extended, She's A Lady with build-up etc. (which all stand a good chance of being played), combined, take a good chunk of time.

2: Jarvis is the king of banter. The talking between songs will be as long as the time it takes for many bands to play a song in full! And that's a good thing. Give me that over Albarn's non-stage persona.

Pulp gigs tend to be ''events'' more than straightforward concerts, if that doesn't sound too precious. Or at least they'll want these reunion shows to be. Every ounce of intensity etched from each song. Of course I could be wrong and they might rattle their way through as many songs as possible in the allotted time they're given but I just don't see it. Extended intros/outros/banter etc. is the Pulp way.
Hopefully an indoor tour of their own shows will yield longer, more unusual set-lists at a later stage.

Plus, they're all getting on a bit. They have to pace themselves ;)

You're right, of course. Personally, I'd love to hear Seductive Barry (however unlikely) & it'd be dissapointing if that weighed in under at least 9 1/2 mins.
Completely unrelated (2am here, sitting with a beer lol) I just got the weirdest feeling they're gonna play (open?) with You're Sister's Clothes. Hmmm. That would be cool.

It's very annoying that the first gig won't be in the UK, or if it is, will undoubtably be whilst I am in Catalunya.

Ha ha! James have you gone mad?! 'Do You Remember The First Time?' is the obvious set opener and I'd imagine with festivals + reunion shows = obvious to be the theme of the day!

There's a train leaves Toulouse at 6.54am on the 26th, gets in Barcelona 11.48, one change at Narbonne. Not that cheap though, 65 English pounds one way. See Rail Europe site for further details.

I'd potentially be interested in a car share but only the Toulouse to Barcelona direction. Might be a long drive winding through the Pyranees though, and there's a border to cross. Paying a little extra for the train is often worth it.

Yeah, I don't have an extra couple hundred dollars to spend traveling a short distance. That bus should cost 20 euros tops.

The venue just send a e-mail to all the buyers of a ticket : "The show will happen but we can not communicate about it (not on our website, not on press, even not on social networks...). We are sorry for the inconvenience" (hope the translation is good).
Still not know when the second sale will happen.

Bad news : more tickets are avalaible, but only for people in the Toulouse area (no "mail-order selling", I mean nothing by phone or internet).
The tickets are sold at the venue or at the FNAC in Toulouse.

I'm going. Only getting to Toulouse in the afternoon then heading off to Barcelona next morning so just there for the show really. Booked in Hotel Castellane which is in the town centre and not too far from the train/bus station which is important for me.

Bikini, where the concert is, is a few miles out of town it appears. I believe there is a metro service with a stop nearby though.

Can't wait for this show, two weeks today and Pulp are back!

Sore throat and hangover ...... perfect! Was an absolutely awesome concert. Their stage presence is strong as ever and the venue was intimate but lively at the same time. Lots of chatting (in French and English) and great humour. I haven't danced like that since I saw them in 1995! One of the best concerts that I have been to in a long, long time. A great band and people are in for a treat at the forthcoming gigs. A strong set list from start to end ..... and 2 hours long! The best 28 that I have ever spent!!!!

A little harsh to use that word here, and especially to put it in bold. There was no deliberate intent to deceive or mislead here, just a few mistakes made with the best of intentions, I'm sure.

Thanks for providing the correct setlist!

This is STUPIDLY exciting... but I dunno, I feel kinda sad to know that Russell isn't playing on any of the songs from after he left. This Is Hardcore is an amazing album... Coxon played on Think Tank songs when Blur reformed! Oh well, maybe if they tour after this year then they'll add bits for Russell? Though it seems unlikely they'll continue with the band after 2011. Still, can't wait, fucking Countdown man...

So is there another guitar player for when Russell is off-stage? I was kinda wondering if Simon Stafford would be part of the tour to provide guitar/keyboard/b. vox support.
