Just out of interest, are most of the folks on here former members of Pulp People? When did it officially end? Also did anyone else go to the Quiet Revolution gig in Edinburgh 1999?

 I was from about 1992-1996 as it was the best way of finding out about Pulp and getting hold of tickets for gigs (Garage & Theatre Royal spring to mind).  Gave it up after that as Pulp were everywhere and there wasn't the same need, especially as the website was up and running as well.

I think it officially ended on the release of Hits at the end of 2002.  At that point Alex was giving away all the Pulp People fanzines/Discovery/Scrapbooks that were left, so I sent an SAE and got a pile of them.  Funnily enough I came across them this weekend as I was clearing out the loft and putting a load of stuff in storage.  I held back the Pulp stuff.  I'll read through them while the roof is demolished.

Thanks. The t shirts around '92 looked brilliant. I left in 2001 as I was massively disappointed with We Love Life.

I have tried pulppeople on 2 computers both using IE and FFOX and it doesn't work. It's shit!!

I just had loads of newsletters and things, I sold everything on ebay a few years back. Is it likely that Alex is running the Twitter account?

I was in from '96 to the end. Managed to catch up on most of the back issues later on as well. And I was at Edinburgh 1999, having got into loads of trouble with Alex for leaking the news of it on the Lipgloss mailing list!

Speaking of Alex, I'd be surprised if she were behind the Twitter page, or anything else to do with the reunion. Who knows though.

She could be around ya know, she was selling Common People 12" etc on Ebay a few months back......... Not too many A.Deck's in Chesterfield........

I was a Pulp Person! I joined in 1999 and wrote really lengthy articles, usually about Mark's film stuff (hey, big surprise) but also about the Highbury gig. I think my subscription ran out just before the fan club closed so that pissed me off that I didn't get the last ever fanzine. Dammit. I lost all my copies as well, due to an accident with a boiling kettle (don't ask). Which is a pity, because I loved reading them.

I didn't go to Edinburgh. I didn't have any money. I still don't.

A very Pulp story that, Sarah!

I joined late on, I only got into Pulp in '99. Joined around the time We Love Life came out, just before I think.
God Bless Alex. When I first wrote to the fan-club she sent me various goodies, including a VHS of videos not on the Sorted For Films & Vids official tape. This was the days of dial-up, Web 1.0 and no youtube obviously.
I remember the promo for This Is Hardcore blew me away.

Anyway on this video, which I recall was labelled 'PULP' in sparkly glitter, she also included a much-coveted recording of Pulp's 1993 appearance on JMTV Rocks, a rather zany Irish tv music show. Parts of it are on the Hits DVD but the whole thing has to be seen to be believed. Sadly, circa 2005 whilst trading bootlegs with Will Wiki of this parish I sent the VHS to him, or rather my brother did, and as far as I can tell, it got lost in the post.
Sorry about that again Will!
I've never seen the JMTV footage since, it must be pretty rare if it hasn't been uploaded to youtube.

Edit: I've just gone through some old emails and it seems that I did send a VHS of Pulp stuff including the JMTV programme to Ian on here but I never found out if he still had it.
Ian, you mentioned at the time something about your tape machine chewing up a VHS tape and fearing it was 'that' one!
Will, did you manage to source another copy of that programme in the end?

Sorry for the major digression into major geekdom, just something I had completely forgotten about til now.

Good stuff. The fact that people joined in '99 is impressive. Keep an eye on ebay for newsletters, I've seen some very recently. The Edinburgh gig was great. Standing in the que outside the venue, Candida pulled up opposite us in a taxi and walked in. People, being very British, polite people were just sort of looking at her as though unsure of what to do and going 'is that...it' is!' Steve and Jarvis played a DJ set afterwards. I haven't thought about it in years and I'd forgotten about dial up! Can't believe how much has changed. It's weird because it's all over a decade ago, but it half feels like it is and half doesn't.

I was in Pulp People from about 2000 'til the end. Which from about 15 to 17 feels like a long time! I wrote one or two gig reviews (Guilfest '01, maybe another I can't remember) & made a crossword which was printed.
Alex sent me some really good stuff too. I hadn't seen any videos apart from the often repeated (even then (: ) Common People, she said TIH was amazing & sent me that...along, brilliantly, with a copy of Something Changed which used to belong Candida!
Also some ace cassettes like Homelands & some rarities including What Do You Say?.

Cool. That was really thoughtful of her. She was very nice in correspondence. I didn't really have any friends who liked music and she always made the effort to personally reply to inquiries etc.

If you can't remember even seeing it, chances are you don't have it because it is, as I said, quite a memorable bit of Pulp footage.
All the more annoying that it got lost.

I hate video tapes.  

I have a load of great stuff from various bands down the years, but it's near impossible to track down.  I have a storage room with probably 200+ tapes which are labeled to some extent, but trudging through them is a real pain.   I had a plan to record them onto a PC a while back, but soon gave up.

Also the only tapes that get chewed are the ones you recorded some one off broadcast on. And if they haven't been chewed you'll find your missus has recorded some crap on it. And they don't always play properly if played back on a different machine to the one they were recorded on.
