Well this is my cover of "Cuckoo Song". It's actually a newer version from the old one that'd been posted on here before. This was recorded around about December last year.
Wasn't there an older topic in which we put our covers of Pulp? I would like to know, since I made a terrible cover of this Jarvis song called Millennium and I want to take it off-line, but I can't find it anywhere.

commonjanine, that version of babies kinda reminds me of the Juno soundtrack. I like it. Also, the way you follow the lead melody in certain parts instead of doing Jarvis' 'talky' bits...I do that sometimes (:
If you don't mind a little constructive critisism, purely because you're only strumming (nowt wrong with that!) the intro's a little too long. Nice, tho'.
James Allenby, I remember your old version. It's still on the hard drive of another computer, I think. This one sounds more professional & acomplished. I think these are the lyrics from the demo? I've done it live a few times, the lyrics I sing are slightly different. I wonder if they're the Flux ones, or just how it went practicing for years without listening to the recording? (Just me thinking out loud lol.)
So howcome I can't embed the video into the thread? It just comes out as not even a link when I try to do it. Hmmm ;)
you can't do the quick reply to embed anything, you have to click reply way up at the top. but thank you much :) i agree the strummed intro is a bit long, i was sort of listening to the song in my head as i played.
Whoah! Beautiful Ansaphone cover Jean. Nice guitar too. Eamonn go for it! Haven't you noticed all the silly people dancing to Common People?! I think there's definately room for 2 versions of Ansaphone.
BTW - has anybody else had great difficulty in uploading their video to PulpTube. Tried it on Firefox and Internet Explorer and still no success...
Jean, was that you?! Thought you were just linking to a song that you liked. If it is, as Weed said, great voice. I want to do it on keyboard but the one I have here is basic beyond belief. Might give it a go later.
Eamonn and weed, unfortunately that is definitely not me! Sorry I should have clarified that. I was just YouTubing 'Ansaphone' a few months ago as it is one of my faves and this video popped up in the margin and I've been listening to it lots ever since. I was just thinking she should definitely be up there on Pulp Tube but I don't think you can forward anyone else for consideration. Give it a go Eamonn! As Weed has said there would be room for an Ansaphone there I'm enjoying hearing all these everyone
Leo VK, PLEASE put your version of 'Going Back To Find Her' back on youtube. If we all vote for that you might win Candida's old Farfisas. Come on!
Eamonn...I love the fact you like that cover so much! :)
I would do, although I am a bit embarrassed at how lo-fi it was (I record to a much higher standard these days), and also my blatant attempt at a mock-Jarvis croon. Would be a bit ashamed for the band themselves to hear it!
Plus it doesn't have a video of me performing it which would make it a bit dull.
Seriously, Leo, it's a great version. Regardless of the curio factor of it being such a rare song and that it's the best quality version out there, seeing as it was never released. I'd love to see the group's reaction if they heard it, for some reason I think Nick especially would be really impressed. Well, if you're not going to put it up there can you please send me an MP3 of it. I promise not to pass it on anywhere else if you don't want me to.
Wow, just noticed the version of Razzmatazz by MGMT on pulptube. Before they were famous aswell which is kind of cool. And the choice of song suggesting they're big fans.
It's weird, when they first became popular a couple of years ago with Kids and Time To Pretend I really had no interest in listening to them as those fucking songs were always on the radio.
But their second album, Congratulations, was my favourite of last year. I liked the way they wrote a quite uncommercial album and no doubt losing a lot of fans from the first record. The keyboards and melodies on it are really good. I remember Jarvis being on Steve Lamaq's Roundtable review show around the time the album came out and Hooky from New Order and Lamaq said to Jarvis that the MGMT song they were reviewing, Flash Delerium, sounded like it had been Pulp influenced. I reckon come the summer there'll be a raft of artists queueing up to pay homage to the group.
I'm loving the cover of ''You Are The One''...very professional! And a girl in Jarvis glasses playing In Many Ways on a banjo! This is what pulptube is for...as well as the odd bellend singing along to Common People.
Are they all on the 'front page', or am I missing something? I don't see my Monday Morning on it yet, lol. Probably not good enough (: Oh well, I think my Mum's coming to my gig tonite, I'll get her to film Little Girl WBE or Birds In Your Garden or something...
Hooray! Haven't heard that in a long time thanks to your self-modesty. Seriously man, to record a professional-sounding version of a song that was never released, learning it from an audience-recorded live performance from well over twenty years ago....great work.
The chord progression is very striking and memorable so I suppose you had something to go on.
And I'm tempted to send the link to Jarvis' 6Music email address. I'd love to see his reaction on seeing this. If Mr Havenhand is still out there I think he'd appreciate it too (if he remembers playing it). I wonder if a full version by the band exists...Truth and Beauty suggests at best, possibly only an instrumental version was done. A pity. Though we'll know for sure come the Separations deluxe one day (soon, surely?!).
And your Razzmatazz version is coming along nicely.

*blush*!
Not sure if it will really be eligible to go on the website seeing as I don't actually appear in the little video that I made for it...judging by the other videos, it seems they might be looking more for the "personal touch". But hey, can't hurt to find out. At the very least I like to think that it might reach the ears of one of the band members at some point.
Assuming that I do actually get around to finishing it, I will try and do a proper video of me playing Razzmatazz to see if that stands a better chance. I don't imagine in a million years that GBTFH will stand a chance of winning, but would be nice for it to be heard at least.
If you fancy passing it on to Jarvis at 6 Music then by all means! :)
Wow really great cover LeoVK And I actually never heard this song before. Hope it appears on the page soon. Think it just takes them a while for whatever reason.
Edit: D'you know what would be great actually - if they played a snippet of some of them or something in the build up to their coming out on stage! I really like the way the page looks with all the little squares too, something like that would be great. Anyway, sorry my imagination running off with me again. I even had a dream about their prospective Electric Picnic set last night!
