Well, it's not long now! I've been thinking about what I'd like to hear them play and come up with the following... I've tried to be realistic as well as thinking about what I would like to hear personally:

Sunrise: This would be cool at the start of the set if only to serve as a reminder that the band have moved on since "We Love Life" and will hopefully be working on new material soon.

Glory People: Why they never played it this way from 2000-onwards, I don't know, maybe they don't like "Glory Days" but it was certainly a highlight for me in 1998.

Party Hard: Good crowd-pleaser.

Sorted for E's and Wizz: See above.

This is Hardcore: Jarvis played it at the Air gig and it would be nice to hear Russell play on it.

Ladies Man: Again, played at the Air gig plus I'd like a better quality live recording of this song smile

I Want You: The only song from "Freaks" that seems to have been played live in their later years.

My Legendary Girlfriend: Performed on the Forest Tour and sounds quite different (and better) live.

That's all I can think of for now. What does everyone else think?

Some great choices there Ian, I'm just happy they're back together and don't mind too much about the setlist, but if I was being selfish I'd opt for more stuff from the His 'n' Hers era as I only saw them live with Russell in the group twice and it was at the height of Different Class so they mainly played stuff from that album. But as I said elsewhere, I'd love to hear Senior doing his stuff on Sunrise and This Is Hardcore, something I've wished for since the good old days

Jarvis has expressed a certain dislike of "Glory Days, " which makes me sad. I think he believes he should have released "Cocaine Sociaism" in its place, so maybe they'll play that!

That said, I predict Jarvis will swallow his pride and the band will play "Mis-Shapes." Again, citing the Blur precedent, they played "Country House," even though they now hate it. If it was a big-enough hit, they'll play it.

I'd add "Little Girl with Blue Eyes" to Ian's list.

Sadly I don't think they will play that much b-sides and rare material, I guess some of the crowd just wants to hear "common people" and so on.
Cynical? yes. Even if I wouldn't mind requesting "Cukoo song"

They'll probably focus on the most known songs since it's festivals mostly. Bands rarely take risks then, especially for comeback gigs. So here is my prediction !

Do you remember the first time
Disco 2000
Party hard
Something changed
Live Bed Show
Babies
Pink Glove
Razzmatazz
A Little Soul
Underwear
The Fear
I Love Life
Sorted for E's & Wizz
Birds in your garden
This is hardcore

Encore
Common people / Glory Days
Sunrise

Encore 2 (maybe)
Bar Italia
Bad Cover version

I honestly doubt they will play "Disco 2000" or "Mis Shapes" but you never know.

"She's Dead" would be an interesting one. I've just been listening to it and on the album it does sound a bit patchy, a bit like Scott Walker on a budget but I've got a live recording somewhere that is better.

They have promised the hits so I'd be very surprised if they didn't play Disco 2000. I'd love to hear She's Dead though!

Didn't we already have this?

Hmm, Ian, I'm not sure about your rationale of My Legendary Girlfriend and I Want You being more likely than Disco 2000 and Misshapes. Come on!

I don't know, maybe they will play "Disco 2000" but they've made it pretty clear that they cannot stand "Mis Shapes" so I doubt they'll play it.

As for "My Legendary Girlfriend" and "I Want You", well they played them in 2002 plus the press release says that they'll be playing songs from all periods of their career, I just think those two are the most likely.

(Mind you, I wouldn't say no to hearing "OU (Gone, Gone)" then "Lipgloss" biggrin

they cant really go under 17 songs for Wireless, as they headline it'll probably be between 177 and 20 tunes.

Festivals and comebacks tend to share that commonality of playing the crowd pleasers and the more well known songs. Perhaps then after regaining popularity they would do more gigs (and not festivals) where they could reintroduce some songs from leftfield. I'm happy with whatever they do as I have and love material from all stages of their career but I am thinking Andy's prediction just might be right.

I'd love 'Countdown' and 'The Boss' (to be honest I'd love a bit of everything) smile

yeah got to agree, I'm not expecting (for example) "Dogs Are Everywhere" at Wireless, or to hear they've played it at any of the other festivals for that matter, however much I love that song...but I'm hoping they play His N Hers at some point!!

I'm sure they'll do a couple of smaller gigs (like Blur did before their bigger shows - the comparison are inevitable I guess) maybe they'll dust off the lesser known tracks then :) here's hoping. At least they wouldn't be worrying about alienating more casual fans if they played some tiny show at the leadmill or something and suddenly started playing a couple of rarities in between the hits.

the question is, do you think they'll shake up the set by a few songs over the gigs this summer or play the same set every time?

I'm hoping they'll shake it up slightly between gigs, they usually do.

I had a strange dream last night that they played "Everybody's Problem" and it actually sounded good. I'll eat my hat if they actually do play it biggrin

Just grab the Hits collection, toss Last Day Of The Miner's Strike out and you've got the songs.

177 - that would be cool smile

I think they will do about 15 or so.   Songs like Hardcore, I Spy and Common People can be dragged out.   Also there is probably a time limit and they have to stop.  I think they only dis a dozen when they headlined Glastonbury.  I wouldn't be surprised if they had the same setlist plus Hardcore, Sunrise and The Fear.

I think the setlist will include these at every show:
a couple old songs:
My Legendary Girlfriend/I Want You
Razzmatazz
several from His & Hers:
Babies
Do You Remember the First Time?
Pink Glove
Joyriders/Lipgloss/Acrylic Afternoons
several from Different Class:
Common People
I Spy
Disco 2000
Sorted for E's & Wizz
Live Bed Show/Feeling Called Love/Underwear/Something Changed
a couple from This Is Hardcore:
This Is Hardcore
Help the Aged
one from We Love Life:
Sunrise/Bad Cover Version

Additional songs for the headlining gigs:
another old song: My Legendary Girlfriend/I Want You
an extra Hardcore cut: The Fear/Glory Days/A Little Soul
another one from We Love Life: Sunrise/Bad Cover Version/The Trees

I think the gigs will be quite long, particularly Wireless. I remember my first Pulp gig, Guilfest, they'd already played quite a bit & Jarvis was openly pissed off there was a curfew, slating Mark for needing the loo before encore lol.

Let's have a go then, trying to mix realism with personal favourites:

She's A Lady (violin version) (I'm expecting a 'build up' sort of song, may be OU instead)
Party Hard
Razzmatazz
I Spy
Disco 2000
FEELINGCALLEDLOVE
This Is Hardcore
My Legendary Girlfriend
His 'N' Hers
Lipgloss
Pencil Skirt
Something Changed
Pink Glove
Common People

Underwear
Do You Remember The First Time?
I Want You
Babies

Of course, I don't really mind! Several others would be amazing. The only tracks I don't like thru their whole catalogue are A Little Soul, Goodnight & My Erection. & A Little Soul has really grown on me the last year or so...
