The Script are a clean-cut, dull as ditchwater Irish group. A Snow Patrol #2 though at least the latter have the odd decent song. They specialise in the kind of dreary balladry that soundtracks poignant scenes in Grey's Anatomy et al. Apparently they play instruments but I'd put them a lot closer in sound and character to boybands like Westlife than your common or garden indie outfit.
I'm a bit bemused at what's caused them to attack Jarvis and Pulp like this though. For all their musical blandness they actually seemed to come across as down to earth, hardworking guys whenever I've heard them interviewed. Not so surprising is how they don't rate Pulp's music - given the way they sound, I wouldn't expect them to.
As for the T In The Park line-up (and I'm guessing the Irish 'Oxegen' festival aswell, seeing as both are held on the same weekend and artists often alternate playing between venues), Coldplay again - inspired. And the odd song aside, what have The Foofighters ever really done to warrant the status bestowed on them? Is it down to Grohl's Nirvana connection? I see the NME are giving him a ''Godlike Genius'' award this week!! I don't think they've ever had a huge hit like Muse for example. A wee bit strange. And as much as I like the Arctic Monkeys it's a bit strange to see the upstarts above their city elders though they admittedly have had a lot more staying power in terms of popularity than Pulp ever managed. Scary though that they didn't even exist when Pulp last played.
I hope Jarvis just doesn't come back to this at all, pretend he hasn't even seen it :).
'The Script' must be desperate for a bit of publicity. One hit / album wonder?
PS: Someone should tell this Script kid that Jarvis said "But I need to pay the bills" when interviewing someone who criticised band reformations on his radio show.

Dammit, I fancied that (T not Serbia lol). I have family in Scotland I could visit at the same time, & there's plenty of other bands I wouldn't mind seeing to justify a whole festival. & I know a few of my mates could easily be dragged along... Perfect!
But NO! I checked the dates & it's Grand Prix weekend. Paying thru the nose for IoW tickets on eBay looking increasingly likely ):
I see they have now added Exit festival in Serbia to places they will play this summer.
Looking increasingly likely that it is festivals only, for now at least, although when confirming this latest date they say they are not finished yet.
REALLY? SERBIA? THAT'S AMAZING!!!
Russell is almost certainly going to sing Srpski Jeb and some of their other Eastern European influenced tunes from the 80s!
This is the first Pulp show I'm excited about! YAY!
Unrelated to Eamonn: I'm not sure you realize how massive Foo Fighters are in North America (and to rockers everywhere). For whatever it's worth, they are considered the modern standard-bearers of the rock and the roll.
