As a massive Hawley fan, I was wondering if anyone thinks/knows if Richard is part of reunion in any way?  There's a post on Richard's very own forum asking the question, which he seems to have ignored (which is unlike him).....

Any ideas??

Thanks in advance

Since he was Russell's replacement and Russell is coming back, I don't see why he will be needed.

I'd be surprised if he wasn't there, I can't see them doing post-DC stuff without him. Unless Russell's been taking guitar lessons ;)

Depends on how they want to sound live I suppose. Judging by the size of the shows it must be big! So they could do with Richard to beef the sound up when Russell is on violin and/or Mark's playing keyboards.

Could be indeed. But, it would be weird not to announce him, since he is quite a name, and just say: 'original line-up'.

My guess is that Richard would only play on the TIH and WLL songs. If not him, maybe Martin Craft or Simon Stafford.

For the life of me, I cannot picture Russel playing on "Party Hard" or "Sunrise," say.

Why not? If he just learns them. I can hardly imagine the man going off stage for those songs.

I just think Russell has a very distinct style of playing guitar and violin. Once he left the band, to their credit, they rarely tried to re-create what he brought to the band. They went into different territory, musically. I don't hear Russell-type parts in a song like "Party Hard," and frankly I think adding such parts would be kinda superfluous.

Maybe he stays on stage, plays guitar, but it's lower in the mix for those songs.

But I'm just thinking out loud.

That could be, those parts in those songs are quite generic. Just chords. He could play those and make the songs more full. Or maybe they are altering the songs to let him fit in. I never heard Help The Aged with him, is there a recording and is it different than the one on TIH?

He was never announced when he played with Pulp, or Jarvis solo.
I can't see Russell WANTING to play on the songs he wasn't a part of, but if he does fair play.
Didn't he essentially leave because he didn't like the way Jarvis was turning up with pretty much fully-formed songs? That would suggest to me that he doesn't actually like the TIH era songs.
& they do need another guitar, particularly songs where Mark does extra piano etc.
& Richard already knows the songs, was a fan from the begining*, & I think he'd be dissapointed not to play.

*I remember an interview where he spoke of his love for There Was

As we speculate... they are probably trying to work this out for themselves in a rehearsal room somewhere!

I suppose it depends on what they decide to include in the set. I'm not expecting much from WWL. Maybe 1 or 2 songs and if they just play a few from TIH leaving their set quite heavy on DC and H'n'H then it's not going to be any more trouble for Russell than it is for the reat of the band really.

Even then I can still imagine Richard H being there to help out with extra guitar here and there and think it possible his silence on the matter is a sign that it may be so

so... I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Probably shouldn't read much into such things, but Wikipedia currently lists Richard as a member of the band. I hope he's going to be there, tho' he'd probably have to come & go during the set. I can't imagine The Fear without him, & I love that song.
