Ok - my first comments on the reuniting of Pulp - all be it they never really split, rather just on hiatus, regardless ............ GET THE FCUK IN THERE !!!! Woooooooooooo !!!!!!
The inclusion of Russell just screams more varied Pulp songs - and here is what I would love to hear personally.
This Is Hardcore (with End Of The Line mix as intro) Babies Razzmatazz Underwear Shes A Lady Birds In Your Garden Something Changed Bad Cover Version Little Girl With Blue Eyes Glory Days Common People Sunrise _____________

Common People
Maybe a tad long, but fuck it, it's they're first gig in years, they should be itching to play. Can't see them playing much off We Love Life unfortunately, Russell may already be non-involved enough with the Hardcore material (hopefully he'll remember the guitar for Help The Aged), and Sunrise aside they may not feel there'll be interest in the songs from their last album.
Dream Set-List, which wouldn't be too different from the above, would also include:
Mis-shapes (they don't like this, so although it's their joint biggest hit in terms of charts I think they'll be stubborn and not play it)
It's A Dirty World (fuck me, imagine if they could nail this live! Jarvis was impressed by it when doing the reissues so if any forgotten song has re-emerged into his consciousness I would hope this is the one)
Something from the early days - Little Girl or I Want You would do
either Countdown or Love Is Blind from Seperations (for a festival gig My Legendary Girlfriend is a bit long and patience-testing to the uninitiated)
and anything off The Sisters EP.
Oh and Birds and Bad Cover Version from We Love Life.
Obviously I could add a host of others - Rattlesnake, Live On, Pink Glove, I Spy, Sylvia, After You, fucking Wickerman... It would be fantastic if they did a fan-geek show for us, but I have to temper this with realism. As long as they play for at least 90 minutes I don't care what they perfrom from their back-catalouge as it will most likely be immense regardless.
like the opening post says, the fact that Russel's rejoined the band makes me think the sets will be pretty varied and definitely leaning to the early-mid 90s, which is fucking FINE BY ME!! :D haha - but seriously, just the thought of them playing stuff that got dropped years ago when he left is great.
I know it's pretty unrealistic to hope they'll play stuff like Little Girl With Blue Eyes, Seconds and David's Last Summer (I'd die happy) but if they played 59 Lyndhurst Grove that'd be more than enough for me. ;) but as for the actual setlists they play it wouldn't surprise me if it was pretty 'hit heavy', and why wouldn't it be? Imagine Blur getting up on stage at Glastonbury 2009 and playing stuff like Day Upon Day and Never Clever instead of The Universal and Parklife :P
one thing though, I saw Blur twice on that tour and they played the exact same set every single night, minus a few changes over the weeks. But I cant imagine a band doing that for a whole tour and really hope Pulp do some smaller shows in the run up to the bigger gigs where they can mess about a bit and play a couple of 'rarities' here and there
lots of reformed bands do very similar sets when they return, its cos they haven't been together for a while & have only practised a certain number of the songs (if they remember how to play them!) hopefully pulp will be a bit different
Absolutely anything they want to play will be fine by me. Just to stand there and hear Pulp play anything again will make me very happy. I love the element of surprise at gigs and try very hard to avoid looking at the set lists taped to the floor - although with an event as big as Wireless, I doubt very much that will be an issue!
I'll think of a set later on but in reality, I think it will be similar to Auto except "Common People" may be first or in the middle of the set.
I might be way off the mark here but I think starting the set with "Sunrise" then launching straight into a couple of brand new songs would be fantastic!
I had a dream the other day that they put out this single called "Killing Time". It had the line in it that said "I used to be a lady killer, now I'm just killing time" and it sounded a bit like Death II, but more orchestral.
I have to admit, the only way I'd be more excited would be if Webber wasn't returning. No disrespect to him or his input, but a strictly early nineties set would be divine.
Through in a bit of Hardcore and We Are The Boyz too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Mark start playing live with them since 1991?
Yeah, Webbo not being involved would be a big blow as he's by far the most competent musician in the group which is a good foil for Russell and Jarvis' more unique styles.
I know that Pulp's signature sound to many remains fom the '92-'94 era (long before TIH and WLL showed how they had become steadily better musicians), that of Candida's stylophone and synths and Russell's frenetic violin playing/simple but effective guitar noodling, and it's hard to argue that they never again sounded more idiosyncratic. But Mark was also a part of that, live certainly as Sarah said, and DC onwards he may even have been largely responsible for them not becoming bad cover versions of themselves.
I'm taking the "all periods" mentioned in the press release with as much truth as the "original lineup". Thinking realistically-ish:
Do You remember the first time Help the Aged Trees Sorted Countdown Razzamatazz This is Hardcore Pink Glove Mis-shapes Little Soul Death II Bad Cover Version Lipgloss Common People Sunrise ---- 59, Lyndhurst Grove Something Changed Babies ---- TV Movie Disco 2000
Would literally explode with excitement if any of the other Sisters EP tracks or Sheffield: Sex City are played.
On the subject of setlists, I recall a few years back that someone had meticulously documented pretty much every gig. Anybody got a link to this please as my google searches have proved largely fruitless?

For me, Mark Webber is as much a part of Pulp as Russell Senior. It wouldn't be the same without him.

I actually think the best musician in the group is probably Steve. Not a multi-instrumentalist like Mark (or Jarvis and Russell for that matter), but an excellent, underrated bass player.
But I am quite happy that Mark is part of the reunion.

I'm well aware Webber was involved far earlier than 95, and I'm not knocking his musicianship etc. It's just the setlist they would be forced to play if he wasn't around. I'm not too into We Love Life and only the best tracks on This Is Hardcore really compare to the early nineties for me.
Hearing Pink Glove would be amazing. I saw Pulp 12 times and the first time, at Newcastle Uni was about the only time I've heard it. I think with Russell there it might be back on the agenda. And they know that the fans want it.
Apart from that F.E.E.L.I.N.G and Live Bed Show (extended) would be amazing. Wouldn't mind a couple of things from WLL too. Should we expect some spectacular audio visuals too?
I'm assuming they might do some warm up gigs in smaller venues in late May. Would love to be there if they do.

I think Bort's setlist is very close to what we'll be probably be hearing at these shows, although I most certainly would throw "Lipgloss" in there as well.
