I saw Mr. Fox last night and it was fun, but not really mindblowing. I did really enjoy Jarvis' song though. It might not sound like much, but it just comes in at a great moment and has a great, goofy kind of energy. It'll never win, but I'd love to see him play it with a jug band at the Academy Awards!

I like Petey's song but I have to say its not really what you would expect to see on the academy's shortlist?
I could believe if 'magic works' or even 'hippogryff' had been nominated in the past, they are both brilliant songs. In fact I have had 'hippogryff' on repeat while I've been driving this week and that song is one of the best driving songs ever! blasted to the max of ocurse.. try it! :D

I think Jarvis' Harry Potter songs were so buried in the final cut, there was no chance of the Academy noticing them. "Petey's Song" occurs at a pretty important juncture in Mr. Fox, plus you hear the whole song! Also it's catchy in a similar way to the songs from A Mighty Wind.

I just find petey's song to be more of a 'ditty' than an actual 'song' . Just my opinion though. smile
