Florence And The Machine kicked off NME Calling by playing a unique gig with Jarvis Cocker, Patrick Wolf, Kid Harpoon and Jack Penate last night (November 27).
Billed as 'Florence And Friends', the gig at London's Tabernacle venue saw singer Florence Welch joined by guests throughout her 12-song set.
The evening's climax saw Welch and Cocker duet on a version of Pulp's 'Underwear', before which Cocker joked "Do you think this is going to go well?!" to the audience. Backed by musicians including Cocker's former Pulp bandmate Steve Mackey (who produced Welch's debut single 'Kiss With A Fist'), the duo also ran through a version of Florence And The Machine's 'Girl With One Eye'.
I fucking hate Florence, public school melodramatic self absorbed attention seeker who's song were ALL written with (read= by) other people, BUT this is very exciting, no?
Nothing on youtube unfortunately, hoping that some footage of the gig will surface though.
