Sorry...I completely missed that there was another thread on this. Haven't been paying attention properly. Luckily a friend of mine spotted it and sent me a link to buy a ticket...so yep, I'm going! Anyone ever seen a live gig at this venue, or know how often they do them? Not sure what to expect!

Yes - I'm going. V excited. I may even wear the Jarvis t-shirt, so if you spot it, come and say hi! I'll probably be somewhere near the front cos I'm the kind of loser that gets to gigs really early just for this purpose.

Thomas Truax. A bit too avant-garde for my tastes, but I put up a video of his jam with Jarvis anyway:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh2FZzH2U9U

He (TT) also did a couple of songs on his own.  Oh and there was a band from Southend (not The Horrors, thankfully) who came on right at the end, but I forget who they were now.  They seemed a little out-of-place, I thought - too poppy. Then Jarvis finished with "Further Complications".

Yeah, directions-wise Liverpool St is probably easiest.  Just head left along bishopsgate and then take the left turn at Great Eastern St and you'll walk straight past one of the entrances.  (Don't make the mistake I did of trying to go down Holywell Lane instead cos it'scompletely blocked to both pedestrians and traffic due to road works...)

Thanks for the info. My train gets in at Liverpool Street, so that means I don't even have to bother with the tube - result!

As I was there on my lonesome, I thought I would occupy myself by tweeting some photos (and one video) of the gig. If you want to see them, look back through my Twitter page at twitter.com/LeoVK

Just got back myself - I thought Jarvis was on great form tonight.

Great pictures Leo - looks like you must have been stood v near to where I was, judging by the pics. Did you get any of the sweets? I got a Freddo.

Yeah, brilliant gig - maybe the best I've ever seen him.  He seemed a bit short of breath at the start, but given how much energy he puts into the performance it's hardly surprising. Even the songs that usually bore me slightly - Pilchard, Homewrecker! - came across as totally wired. Shame about "Girls Like It Too"; didn't realise that was on the setlist.  What else got cut?

A couple of videos of mine:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QR7ghgq47g <- Leftovers

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlnjwfG-R9A <- Purple Haze

(latter is from the end of the daytime stuff rather than the gig itself...) Was the lady Jarvis kissed in Leftovers the one who handed him the rose?  I missed that bit...

I had mixed feelings about the actual residency; it was an experience to see the band in such a laid back setting, and some of the jams / backing music worked pretty well (the ones on the final day seemed to be the best.) But I was kind of disappointed that they didn't actually spend any time in all 3 days rehearsing songs for the gig (even Jarvis commented last night that they should've spent more time working on the actual songs.)

I was on the ramp behind the sound desk... Could see the setlist, but unfortunately didn't have a camera. Interestingly though, after 'in your eyes' they were due to play an encore of Girls Like it Too and Hold Still (which would have been something special I think)... However, loads of people left during the end part of in your eyes (the bit where Jarv goes off and the rest of the band make 'noise' for ages). The lights stayed down, until the stage manager guy came to the sound desk and asked them to turn the lights on, explaining that it was 'a bit quiet'... gutted!

Hmmm never thougt about it before, but I guess playing In Your Eyes at the end does make a second encore tricky, cos it's inevitable with the noise part that people will drift off at that point (I was videoing the song, but stopped the recording at that point myself, cos quite honestly watching someone fiddle with an effects pedal is not that thrilling.) I think the song does make a good set closer, but only if its definitely going to be the last song. As long as there's a possible second encore then it's a poor choice really (unless they end the song differently.)

I didn't realise so many people had left by then, it seems a shame cos down the front everyone was mkaing plenty of noise in the hopes of getting them back on stage.

Yeah...for a song that is pretty lengthy anyway, all that noise at the end does nothing for it. All it does is make people want to run for the doors. The only reason I stayed til the end is cos I had seen the setlist on the stage, and thought there would be two more.

Lucky there wasn't though really, cos I would have missed my train!

It was the other way round - she leant in and kissed him on the cheek.  But yes, it was the same lady that gave him the rose. (Not me - honest, I was just stood v near)

Also I think Jarvis fans ought to let themselves go and dance a bit more at his gigs (unless that was all going on behind me?)

Hey everyone! not sure why I hadn't found this site before, I am a pulp/jarv freak and have been for the last 15 years and counting.

I was also very disappointed the last 2 songs didn't get played, and got very annoyed with a couple of girls who were behind me (I think they were some of the circus performers) they were taking the piss out of some of us at the front hanging around for the setlists telling us to take the plastic container home, as J had touched it, and bla bla, wanted to slap them to be honest.
Apart from that, a very special gig, amazing to be so close to him.

Looking fwd to talking all things jc and pulp on here with you lot.

hey Leo, saw you right at the front, did you get one of the beers or was it the girl next to you? can't remember.
