Business-wise, I think it makes sense to release the single -after- the album. Any album Jarvis puts out is going to have strong early sales, especially by "indie-label" standards. By releasing the single a few months after the album, the label then re-invigorates sales after the initial wave of excitement (and curiosity) has run its course.
Nah, thats when the second single should come out. Good to know that one is coming judging from the flickr fotos anyway.
1. Further Complications 2. Angela 3. Pilchard 4. Leftovers 5. I Never Said I Was Deep 6. Homewrecker 7. Hold Still 8. Fuckingsong 9. Caucasian Blues 10. Slush 11. Youre In My Eyes (Discosong)
Girls like it too is missing from the final 11!! IF we get a single great, but if not where are we supposed to get this potentially great song in high quality??
Was just going to post that it's a bit strange we still haven't heard anything about a track-listing when it's a month away from release and no doubt the music monthlies have already got their reviews ready for when their next issues come out in the next 10 days or so.
If this is true it looks like 'Girls Like It Too' has befallen the same fate of 'Cuckoo' and no doubt one or two other gems before it - namely that it was written too early on in the album's genesis (meaning Jarvis has gone off it). Either that or Jarvis thinks it too poppy for his meatier new sound. Pilchards is an instrumental innit? How can that be ahead of 'Girls...'? Reduced to lousy b-side status at best...as, judging by this, are: 'Apparently', 'I Found Myself Looking For God' and 'The Night They Left Me Out Of The Home'.
If there is to be a single, it'll probably be a two weeks after the album release at the earliest. If it was to be a fortnight before, as is standard, we'd surely have heard details by now.
Well, the last time a fine song didn't fit the album dramaturgy it ended up as a bonus track . As long as Jarvis will release everything he recorded life's good as far as I'm concerned. I even bought the Fat Children 7'' and "Loss Adjuster" is 8:06 of pure genius - although it wouldn't have fit the album either.
So, let's wait and see.

Yeah, it's a fair point that it possibly doesn't scan well alongside the other tracks. And 'Big Stuff' and 'The Loss Adjuster' were indeed great. Not sure I could say the same for 'One Man Show'.
Anyroad, I don't doubt that it will be released in some shape or form - he said in that press release last month that all 15 tracks recorded will be made available; I just think i'Girls Like It Too's potential as a single is huge.
his got a new web site!! http://jarviscocker.net/ ... according to rough trades webs site here's a free mp3 from his album there but all i found so far is a little video of him spelling his name with big letters

Angela is available to download for free on his new website. Just sign-up to the mailing list. You can also stream it.
Still not convinced by the song, in fact I think I preferred it live. He's added more lyrics which seem to clutter-up what is a fairly simple song - one big riff and lots of ''Angela'' harmonies cooing. I thought it was a throw-away number but maybe it will grow on me.
Gotta love the website video of him trying to balance the furniture sculpted letters of his name. Especially when they all fall down! Maybe that was the ''video shoot'' that some dude posted photos onto flickr from.
yeah it wasn't up when i was there...but it's now. yeah and his little "no". Haha i felt so sorry for him and shouted as well. I'm not convinced either ..maybe after a few listings..?
Angela sounds great, although I don't like it that much as a song. Perhaps it's a single - perhaps not. Remember: Kasabian just made "Vlad the Impaler" available as a download without the song beeing the first proper single in a physical way.
Anyway, the white room and the big letters are the same from the flickr photos, so: a) that wasn't a video shoot; they were shooting material for the website, or b) website, album artwork and video share the same design. I bet on (b).

Is it possible that Girls Like It Too has been renamed as another song, Slush maybe? Or have all of those 11 songs been heard before?
I'll be honest, GLIT wasn't my favourite anyway, and I was a big fan of Angela which others seems to despise! It's funny how we all seem to have completely different tastes!
I can't believe GLIT isn't on there. He maybe saving it (for a soundtrack or something) I expected it to be the lead single as it is by far the most accessable new song. I'm trying not to listen to the new stuff too much as I'd like to listen to it properly when the album comes out.
I will head over to the website tho and find out if Angela has improved any with recording!
Wilfully uncommercial eejit...just as well he's not on a major label, he'd make them tear their hair out.
I've just given Angela a couple more spins and I'm beginning to like it. And most impressively, I believe it's the first Jarvis/Pulp song since 'Stacks' to clock-in under 3 minutes! Get in!

Eamonn, I think NME forgot to add the Slush video into their report, I found it though:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9RO7_fBBAA
It sounds very much like a song which would fit perfectly into WLL at first listen (that's a good thing by the way ;))
Also, on a different note, there is another news story on NME now...Rough Trade are giving away a free cassette in their stores at the weekend with songs from a number of its artists. Track number one is...Angela. Interesting, I'm beginning to think this free single will be followed by another pay for release just before the album!
Jefferey Lewis is on there too, I really enjoyed his support at the Manchester Academy gig...
