I'm allowing this to stay up because I don't think most of the stuff in there is "commercially available" in any way.
That being said, I should just make it clear that Bar Italia the site has no connection whatsoever with "the Bar Italia account", that was just something some forum users set up between themselves to (as I understand it) trade rare demos, live boots etc.
If it helps assuage your fears at all, most of what you've listed there (especially under the promos bit) is pointless shit, rather than tantalising rarities:
TRACKS FROM SINGLES Sheffield Sex City (instrumental)* (8:33) - Babies CD This one is quite good.
Common People (Motiv8 Radio edit) - Common People japanese CD Common People (Motiv8 Club Mix) - Common People japanese CD No different from the Motiv-8 mixes you've already got. The first one is just a shortened version of the second one, which is exactly the same as the one on the UK single.
Sorted for E's & Wizz (live at the Markthalle, Hamburg) - Disco 2000 Mis-pressed German release Do You Remember the First Time? (live at the Markthalle, Hamburg) - Disco 2000 Mis-pressed German release Pencil Skirt (live) / I Spy (live at the Markthalle, Hamburg) - Disco 2000 Mis-pressed German release The mispressed German CD is nice, but nothing vastly different from what can already be heard on countless Different Class-era bootlegs.
The Trees (Lovejoy the No Jazz mix) (3:35) - Sunrise 12": I'm not even sure I've ever actually listened to this.
EDITS FROM PROMOS Lipgloss (Radio Edit) - Lipgloss UK Promo CD I can't tell the difference.
Do You Remember The First Time? (Radio Edit) - Do You Remember The First Time? UK Promo CD Exactly the same, except it replaces the word "screw" with "knew". Not worth tracking it down.
Common People (Doggy Disco Mix) - Common People German Promo 12" Common People (TTP Understand The Acid Remix) - Common People German Promo 12" You'd have to really, really like remixes of Common People to want these, I'd be surprised if the band themselves had ever actually listened to them. Nonetheless, I understand and applaud your completism.
Common People '96 - Common People '96 Exactly the same as the UK single version, except it edits out the word "screw" with a short pause. Bizarrely, another track on that CD is the unedited version of Do You Remember The First Time, with the oh-so-offensive word left in, available for the kiddies to hear in all its depraved, corrupting glory.
Disco 2000 (Alan Tarney Remix) - Disco 2000 Canadian Promo 12" I've heard good things about this, but never actually heard it. I have a CD somewhere by the Tarney/Spencer Band. It's faintly rubbish.
Disco 2000 (Stefan Will Edit) - Disco 2000 German 1 trk Promo CD Never heard of it, never mind listened to it.
Sorted For E's & Wizz (Single Version) - Mis-Shapes & Sorted UK 7" Juke Box Vinyl This is just a censorship-imposed change - they got the tickets from some messed-up bloke in Camden Town - and you already own it on the Mis-Shapes/Sorted CD single.
This Is Hardcore (Radio Edit) - This Is Hardcore (single) UK Promo CD A radio edit of a song nobody played on the radio. What's the point of that, then?
This Is Hardcore (French Edit) - This Is Hardcore (single) French 1 trk Promo I have no idea what this is.
Party Hard (single version) - Party Hard UK Promo CD You already own this on the "regular" Party Hard UK CD single. It's barely distinguishable from the original (indeed there's debate as to whether it's actually any different at all).
Party Hard (Chocolate Layers Remix) - Party Hard Promo 12" This might be quite interesting.
The Fear (Edit) / The Fear Research Hook - The Fear US 2 trk Promo CD The first couple of minutes of "The Fear", followed by a short fifteen-second burst of "The Fear". You could achieve these super-rare rarities by just pausing the This Is Hardcore CD after two minutes and grinning contentedly.
Sunrise (Radio Edit) - Sunrise UK Promo CD-R The Trees (Edit) - The Trees Spanish 1trk Promo CD I'm not even sure these are actually "edits" at all.
Bad Cover Version (Radio Edit) - Bad Cover Version Promo CD-R Again, it's just a slightly shortened version of the main song; you could just splice one of these together from the regular version with minimal fuss.
TRACKS ON COMPILATIONS Anorexic Beauty (Demo) - Beware The Bacon Slicer Maureen (Demo) - Premspeak 1 Don't You Want Me Anymore? (Live) - Oozing Through The Ozone Layer These are all in circulation, I'd wager they'll have been put in the account long ago.
thanks so much for this detailed response. as ull notice im obsessive compulsive lol i think my mrs let me know of her desire for every track knowing full well id track everything down lol
i kinda expected that mny of the so called edits / single versions wouldnt be any different from what was already had and thus thatl make my list a little shorter
hopefully some 1 out tehre has these and is willing to share
The Trees (Lovejoy the No Jazz mix) (3:35) - Sunrise 12": I'm not even sure I've ever actually listened to this.
It's not very interesting.
I agree with Steve on this one. I've not listened to these for years but as far as I can remember the "Doggy Disco Mix" is about 8 minutes too long and has the words "Like a dog" looped many times. The other mix is just cheap and nasty acid music with the occasional vocal from Jarvis. Neither are any good.
Disco 2000 (Alan Tarney Remix) - Disco 2000 Canadian Promo 12" I've heard good things about this, but never actually heard it. I have a CD somewhere by the Tarney/Spencer Band. It's faintly rubbish.
It's near enough the same as the album version but with a couple of extra cymbal clashes here and there, the drums are also slightly different.
Disco 2000 (Stefan Will Edit) - Disco 2000 German 1 trk Promo CD Never heard of it, never mind listened to it.
I have this somewhere. It is a radio edit. As far as I remember it fades out after the second chorus.
This Is Hardcore (French Edit) - This Is Hardcore (single) French 1 trk Promo I have no idea what this is.
Same as the radio edit.
Party Hard (single version) - Party Hard UK Promo CD You already own this on the "regular" Party Hard UK CD single. It's barely distinguishable from the original (indeed there's debate as to whether it's actually any different at all).
It is slightly different, only really noticeable near the end. Why did they change it anyway? I can understand the logic behind putting different versions of songs out as singles but when they're pretty much exactly the same??
Party Hard (Chocolate Layers Remix) - Party Hard Promo 12" This might be quite interesting.
Now you're talking. It has an extended intro and outro, extra drum parts and slows down on the word "psychosis". Probably the only decent remix of "Party Hard".
Sunrise (Radio Edit) - Sunrise UK Promo CD-R The Trees (Edit) - The Trees Spanish 1trk Promo CD I'm not even sure these are actually "edits" at all.
"Sunrise" fades out about half way through the instrumental and "The Trees" cuts most of the instrumental part out, it just goes straight to the final chorus.
Is the Alan Tarney remix of "Disco 2000" the single mix (the one used in the video)? I think he's credited as the producer (or remixer) on the CD single.
This is not exactly worth hunting down, if you want to make your own Stefan Will Edit, all you have to do is after the 2nd verse, use cool edit, remove the "oh that was years ago, you paid your money and taken your choice......." part and start it again from the final "lets all meet up"........and there you go ! Although the cd is worth hunting down, its worth 25 ish quid when I last saw one go on ebay.
Alan Tarney edit of Disco 2000 is better than the album version.
Disco 2000 (Stefan Will Edit) - Disco 2000 German 1 trk Promo CD Never heard of it, never mind listened to it.
I have this somewhere. It is a radio edit. As far as I remember it fades out after the second chorus.
Is the Alan Tarney remix of "Disco 2000" the single mix (the one used in the video)? I think he's credited as the producer (or remixer) on the CD single.
No, there is actually another remix that exists. In fact it is just labelled "Disco 2000 (Remix)". Alan Tarney is credited for the 7" mix so I've no idea who this other remix is by. It might have been Steve or someone who described it as a cross between the album version and the 7" version and I agree. The sound isn't too good on my laptop but it sounds like there are bells in it and the drums are different.
Here's some info on the different versions of "Disco 2000":
Album version - the version on the, er, album
7" version - the version on the commercially available singles - "Additional production and mix by Alan Tarney"
Motiv 8 Discoid Remix - available on CD2 of the single. It's pretty much a club version.
Motiv 8 Gimp Dub - available on CD2 of the single, another club version but not as good.
Stefan Will Edit - available on promos, it's a radio edit which is simply shorter than the original
Nick Cave Versions - one is available on the "Bad Cover Version" single, the other is on the deluxe edition of "Different Class", they are covers as opposed to remixes
Bootleg Remix - available on some random DJ compilation out a few years ago. I uploaded this to the Yahoo account myself.
Unknown Remix - this is the one I described above, available on this nice promo. It is not credited to anyone, no mention of Alan Tarney or anyone else for that matter, it just says "remix"
Those versions by Nick Cave are great too. The one on 'Bad Cover Version' was supposed to be a bad cover version but turned out nicely. I like the one on TIH deluxe better though.
