Just been tipped off by a friend who read in the Mirror that Jarvis will be at the Feeling Gloomy club nite at Islington Academy on 13th September for it's 3rd birthday do!
What's he supposed to be doing, playing or DJing? Sadly I definitely won't be able to go either way, 'cos I'm making my first festival appearance that day!
Yes, it's true. He's stealing my job and DJing, not playing. Advance tickets have sold out, but we don't release that many, so plenty on the door, though it's not a huge venue.
We will be letting our most regular customers queue-jump, so best arrive early if we don't know you... That is my expert advice to anyone considering it.
I suspect that's more than early enough as we generally don't open until after 10 anyway (though I'm not 100% sure about next week at the moment, I just turn up and play some tunes, everything else is mysteriously done by mythical 'promoters'). I reckon the best thing to do is probably turn up early and sit in the all you can eat chinese buffet directly opposite, so you can pounce when the queue starts to form.
Really looking forward to this nite. Have to say that, from what I have read and heard, Feeling Gloomy would be my regular club if it wasn't so awkward for me to get home from!
So did anyone else here actually end up going...? Went along last nite and it was a lot of fun. Jarvis played a predictably eccentric collection of tracks from his crackly old collection. Ironically though, it felt like the party only really started once he had stopped playing and all the old favourites came on. But then unknown songs rarely go down a storm in a nightclub environment.
Majorly pissed off that me and my friend waited by the door that Jarvis would be leaving through, to try and catch him for a hello and a photo (yeah, it's sad, but we're all allowed to be once in a while), but because we had become distracted by this weird guy who was hanging around and staring at our group, we looked away at the moment that Jarvis came through and walked out of the club...completely missing him!! Most frustrating!! My friend did call after him, but the most we got was a thumbs up...but anyway...!
I'm in favour of the ties, and I think his hair looked better short. Its been really quiet on the Jarvis front recently, and there have been no updates on his myspace for ages... I really hate to mention it again, but he is still not wearing his wedding ring, I wonder if things are alrite at home??
