Just had a horrible thought.
Remember when all the music press was fired up about a new Pulp album, WLL.
Even Kerrang! TV was playing Trees, which confounded Jarvis 'cos it "Hasn't even got a propper guitar solo, so I don't know what they want with it!"
It only stayed on Kerrang! for about a week, but Jeez, imagine if that single was After You...
Doesn't bear thinking about, does it.

Ha ha! No, I guess you're right, not the 'press' in the physical sense.*

They were on all the TV shows tho', even the more kiddie ones like CD:UK. (Which I think is where my Jarvis quote came from if memory serves).
John Peel's coverage was nicely in-depth too. I remember hearing Bad Cover Version for the first time on his show, & thnking "Christmas single!"
(Pity that never happened, tho'!)

*Well, apart from the NME cover. & even they recommended Sunrise (despite slating Trees).

Does anyone have video of Pulp television appearances during the WLL/Late-TIH era? They would greatly appreciated!

There's Bad Cover Version on TOTP to start with. Not sure what interviews there are though, if that's what you are loooking for...?

Yeah, I've seen all of the youtube stuff, so I'm mostly looking for interviews and less common television preformances. Thanks though.

Heh, okay I did wonder. Not sure really. Looking at the Acrylic Afternoons site, doesn't look like there is a huge amount of stuff between 99-02. I'm sure I have Jarvis's appearance on Jonathan Ross knocking about somewhere on VHS, but I don't have the capabilities to upload that unfortunately, even if I did find it!

That whole appearance was so crushing.  Jarvis, who once said he'd always try to be on top form for such cheesy shows so as not to let the fans down, sullen, disinterested, just looking like he'd rather be absolutely anywhere else in the world at that exact moment in time...  The end of the pop Pulp era.

I love We Love Life, though, even though it does its best to put me off, the cover, the title, the half-finished lyrics, Jarv's voice, the almost entirely absent keyboards... it's still as good a collection of fucking excellent songs as they ever put out, and while I don't think it's my favourite Pulp album any more (as it was at the time it came out), I'd certainly put it at #2.
