I love this band and was very surprised that someone mentioned them on this board. They do remind me of The Dears, if anyones heard their stuff.

I don't know how any Pulp fan could possibly stomach The Long Blondes. Posh London students with Pulp obsession move to Sheffield to try and emulate everything about Pulp in the most contrived way possible? Eg. lyrical themes, vocal delivery, artwork, "fashion style" (that is the most laughable bit). UGH I think I was just actually sick.



I love The Auteurs. And I love Elvis Costello and the Attractions.

Sorry for bringing this back up after 15 years, but ever since the mention here of the band Baustelle, they've become a band I keep up with. 

Their most recent release is clearly ripping off Common People.

Erm top of my heads - Talking Heads, Pixies, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Wolf Alice, Beabadoobee, Mazzy Star, Joy Division, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, bits and pieces of 90s Radiohead all on rotation. Arctic Monkeys, Gorillaz, and Interpol were a couple of past favourites I've now grown past (although 'Demon Days' and 'Turn on the Bright Lights' are as good as anything from the 2000s).

Of course none of those bands are much like Pulp, save for perhaps the Heads and Beatles. Wolf Alice are easily my favourite group of more 'recent' times, I understand the scepticism of any music out of North London but they really matured and achieved something with 'Blue Weekend'. Best album of 2021 for me.
