I was a late starter - also 1998 at Manchester Evening News (I think). Was 14 years old. Had been a fan since a friend's older sister had introduced me to the band in 1994 but my parents hadn't let me go to any of the gigs. Managed to sneek off to the Manchester one without their approval and have never looked back! Jay
26th February 1996 at Newcastle Arena. I wanted to go see them earlier but my mother wouldn't let me! I was 13.
Weren't you doing a touch of guitar for them on stage around then Pete? Or was that just at the Brits so Jarvis could be free to be hoisted in the air and wave his arse around?!
I have never seen them, i have been a fan since around 95 (when i was 13), the first song i remember hearing was do you remember the first time, they have been my favourite band ever since. I have seen Jarvis DJ in the mint lounge in Manchester and i have seen him perform solo at the Manchester acadamy.
June 16th, 1998 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. Never thought it would be almost 10 years before I'd get to see Jarvis (and Steve) again. Someday I hope there'll a chance to see the whole gang together again.
A belated welcome, Pete! It's great to have you here. Thanks for popping in.

On MTV February 1993, they had a show that Paul King presented called 120 minutes. I suspect I had seen the videos prior to this, but remember this most
Reading 2001? I thought they played the year before and the year after, but not 2001?
Mine, unbelievably, was at Finsbury Park in 1998. I just didn't ever go to watch live bands before I went to university, having grown up in the exciting metropolis that is Winsford, Cheshire.

Pretty much ditto to all of that, except I was nine years old... I wish I could've seen Pulp live.
a bit of them at glastonbury in the afternoon in 94. i got too drunk to watch in 95. they played aberdeen in a tiny club in 92 or 3 when i still lived up there. i couldn't go i was gutted. they rocked, apparently.
I saw them in 1994 in Los Angeles at the Palace (now the Avalon) when they toured the US as openers for Blur. (I was 16 & it was my 2nd concert). They weren't well known at all, and the Blur crowd wasn't that enthusiastic, but it was an amazing show. During Blur's set, Jarvis and Mark were standing near the bar just watching, so I got to meet them. We also met Steve when he went to the tourbus.
The first time I saw Pulp, I was 16. It was Guilfest 2001. I'd've gone sooner, but I was too young & had no money! Also saw them at Reading Festival 2002, Eden Project 2002, and Auto 2002. I was gutted I never found out about the RM concert until after the event... Seen Jarvis at Koko 2006, Astoria 2007 and Meltdown 2007. I have no idea why I didn't go to Roundhouse. I think I was drunk when I meant to buy tickets, & they sold out...! I'm skint now, so sadly won't be at any festivals or concerts for the forseeable.
Unless Pulp get back togeather, in which case I'll have to sell some stuff!!
I saw Pulp for the first time when I was 9 years old. It was the 13th of July 1996 at the Point in Dublin. They came on stage at 9.52pm! It was part of the Feile (a music festival). Cast, Bawl and Super Furry Animals also performed that day. They did 2 encores as far as I can remember. You never forget the first time! I wish I had been a slight bit older though because I had to sit in the balcony with my mother. This was also the first night that I ever witnessed people having sex. In true JC style I saw two people getting off in a bush while we were walking to the bus stop!! What a great night Russell was always my favourite. He was wearing his blue jacket with the white trousers. Later on he took off his jacket and was just dressed completely in white. Mark unfortunately spent the whole night with his back to the audience. Hmmmmm
First time was the Heineken Festival in Leeds in July 1995 (first time they played Live Bed Show), then after that the La Monte Young benefit at the Barbican in '97 (first time they played This Is Hardcore and Seductive Barry, both with full orchestra). Couldn't have picked two more contrasting events, but they were both special in their way.
If you're looking for anyone around these parts who saw Pulp in your day, I suspect you'll be searching in vain unless John Nicholls is lurking...

Alright Peter, hope you're well & all. First time I saw Pulp was in December 1984 (I think) at the Hallamshire when you were with 'em. I went down expecting to hear loads of songs from 'It' & guess what? - You didn't play any. Anyway, I've seen Pulp loads of times, as you probably know. Am I the only Pulp member who's played in the band & also supported them - dunno, probably. Steven Havenhand
