This week is really dragging it's self by and all because I am going to London on Saturday to catch the last night of Meltdown. The prospect of a Jarvis concert plus a Desperate Sound System set is getting me rather excited!

Really looking forward to see the Royal Festival Hall too now, after it's refurb.

Has anyone been to any Meltdown shows then? Anything to report on Jarvis' rendition of that 'Jungle Book' song?!

I don't think I can go to the DSS set, 'cos I need to get my train home! But I'm really looking forward to the 'propper' concert.
I've never been to the Royal Festival Hall before, even pre-refurb. It'l be the first time I've had a seat at a Pulp/Jarvis concert. I'm on the balcony.

So who else is going? See ya there! (-:

It's a shame i didn't see ya message ealier James! i was on the balcony too. Was a nice concert with a good sound.

I work on the railways so I could have sorted you out to get home.

I met Jarvis afterwards and had a nice little chat with him. I'll post some pics of the back of my head tomorrow!

Now, I am knackered from the slight hangover and the long train journey home!

Same old same old!

Encore after Black Magic tho (Which had an extended built up outro (a bit like 'Babies circa 1996 Or 'Party Hard' around 2000/2) and he played 'Quantam Theory, Candida Joined in for 'From A to I' and he had strings and a choir

Cover was 'Eye Of The Tiger' which was made all the more entertaining by a stage invasion and under Jarvis' protests to the security, one rather drunken old soul managed to remain on stage to dance with Jarv for the whole song!#

As I say , I got to meet Jarvis afterwards and got the other half to take some pics. The gut infront of me looked familer, I suspect it's one of you guys off here! So I'll post them 2moro and if it is you - I have lots of nice pics of you talking to Jarvis!

...........Unfortunatly all the pic of me talking to Jarvis turned out shite!

Queenie - I have now apologied to Jarvis in person for my rowdy behaviour at Glasgow! lol - He said, and i quote, "I thought it had something to do with you." he must have seen me drunk before!

Did anyone catch Artery's set after Jarvis? I saw their warm-up gig in Sheffield the night before and I think it's fair to say they ruled.

Not the most ideal circumstances, 4 of us travell to London on saturday afternoon from Newcastle. Not one of us had remembered to pack deodourant this was coupled with a damp smell on my t-shirt from where we had been caught in the thunderstorm on our way to the festival hall! The cig behind my ear was for Jarv, but I forgot it was there and now I really looked the part.

Unfortunately, I also turned my back to the camera as soon as he started talking to me!

He was very polite and rather funny. i was lucky and went straight over to get my ticket signed. A short time later a crowd had gathered. It's a shame Steve didn't join him for desperate sound system too, however i was over the moon to have met Jarvis after all these years!

Apologies to the young lady beside me if I appeared to jump in infront of you, but your just weren't calling him loud enough! he's a bit mutton y'know!

I've got some more pics, if there was anyone who mite have been beside me without a camera handy!

I've searched high and low, and this is the only blog I've found with a review of the "Forest of No Return" show:

http://intermezzo.typepad.com/intermezzo/2007/06/jarvis_cockers__1.html

As blogs go, it's a decent review, with photos of all the performers. Did you know Grace Jones performed? Bet you wish you were there now.

If I lived in London, I would have seen this, and the Valerie Project. The rest of the Meltdown Festival seems kind of lame.
