The Sudan Gerri Demos...

  Hello,

I sussed out the Bar Italia yahoo Group, and e-mailed it, I hope I hear something soon.  Now, I do I have one little download request, I have known in the past about Pulp's original Sudan Gerri demos, and saw they were for download on Jay's Blog for a little while, I have also been scouring for other early Pulp, namely the following: Ken Patten Demo (1981), Wessex Demos (2000), "Pulp" Sessions (1999),  & the Ping Pong Jerry demo (1984) &   But over the years, they have gone offline, could someone please re-up these OR put them on the Bar Italia Yahoo Group for download.  Any help is MUCH appreciated and thank you again!  Cheers!

  Sincerely, JamiroFan2000

You've just listed the holy grail in terms of Pulp demos - the Ken Patten, Rotherham and Spice demos from Pulp#1 have never been released, officially or otherwise though What Do You Say? from the Patten tape made it onto a compilation of Sheffield bands at the time, and is relatively easily available. Sickly Grin from the Spice demo was eventually released as a 7" b-side to a limited Caff labelled release of My Legendary Girlfriend in 1992, and again within Pulp freaks circles, is not difficult to track down. The vinyl itself is rare and expensive.

Likewise the Pulp and Wessex demos from late 1999/early 2000 remain hidden away - apart from Grandfather's Nursey and the instrumental version of Got To Have Love.

I think Ping Pong Jerry is in circulation, it might even be in the yahoo account.

   Hello again,

Thank you for the additional information about the Pulp demos I listed, Eamonn, much appreciated!  In a sidenote, I did find some stable MP3s of the Sudan Gerri demos on the Pulpwiki site for download, just "right click save as.." on each "listen" next to each track, those demos made me speechless, I was beholding "future brilliance" with every listen.  I do have one question:  I did e-mail the Baritalia yahoo account last night, but haven't received any reply with direction to where I can access this supposed "pulp FTP" OR whatever it is that has been mentioned before in the form of a Yahoo Group, could someone please explain to me what I can expect?  Thanks again for the points made about those demos Eamonn and Cheers!

   Sincerely,  JamiroFan2000
