Counting every concert listed on Pulp Wiki at the moment, filtering out those marked as cancelled, it would be the 522nd. However, we know from Jarvis' notebooks in Good Pop, Bad Pop that Jarvis didn't count the March 1980 City School concert, and considered the July 1980 Rotherham Arts Centre show as #1, so that would make it the 521st - unless he's revised his opinion. His notebooks also skipped the 'Search for a Star' talent contest, which is fair.
I was intrigued about someone in Pulp potentially having a list that doesn't match what we have. They've admitted using Pulp Wiki themselves as a source of info and lyrics, so I had the impression that they were not the best archivists of their own material... but then, Jarvis' notebooks and everything Mark has kept would suggest otherwise.
I've just realised they performed twice on July 25th 1991 at Hallamshire Hotel, so that could get us to #523 by 2023 if we include the March 1980 show, too. This would fit my original presumption of "they probably got the number of concerts from Pulp Wiki"!
But that list includes the City School concert, the talent contest, one in Jarvis' backyard, one at a friend's house, some record store acoustic sets, various launch parties... hmmmm! I would love for there to be a separate list that gets to 523 via a different path.
