Welcome.

Already mentioned on the Room29 thread but yeah, interesting coincidence. Add in the new edition of Uncut proclaiming (somewhat disingenuously) "The Return of Elastica" on its front cover and all signs point to that Upside Down world of Stranger Things extending its reach.
Well, either that or the space time continuum warp in Camden that Cocker bangs on about in The Loss Adjuster.

Thank you.

Sorry I missed this being discussed elsewhere - too slow. Not a great start to posting on here!

As you mentioned the new Uncut with the Elastica story/non-story, I noticed an advert for "Star Shaped Festival" in the gigs bit at the back. Whatever mixed feelings I might have about Cocker and Anderson getting their typewriters out, the fear this celebration of the fag end of Britpop brings out in me is something else...

I thought it was slated for spring next year as per this talk he's giving later this month: https://www.chatsworth.org/events/chatsworth-arts-festival/chatsworth-arts-festival-programme/jarvis-cocker/

His contemporary, Mr B Anderson soon releases his second book since that story at the top of the thread (albeit a more straightforward project - an autobiog split across two books. A cynic would suggest clever marketing)!

Forever taking his time, the Jarv...2020 could be even busier than this year for him though if he releases a Jarv Is album (with an accompanying nationwide tour?) and Pulp reunite for Glasto50 (and presumably other festivals/shows).

I cant see that happening. Pulp have played their last gig.

Are you sure? You live close to Candida and Mark, they're probably the two that would need convincing so 'ave a word!

I don't think Russell would do it again. I'm not sure Candida's able. And with Jarvis currently riding a mini-crest with his new stuff - and finally including a few Pulp songs in the setlists - it seems even less likely.

I agree.  I suppose that Jarvis could do a set with more Pulp songs, particularly the less heralded songs a la his n hers at some point, but as you wrote, neither Russell nor Candida would participate for sure, and as time goes by less likely the others would either.

Of course, I am now going to look really stupid when Pulp announce new dates for 2020... (but I dont think i will)

He should have called it "It's Just A Fookin' Song".

Selfish head coming into play.....I saw the Killers play at Bolton in 2018, and that was with out Dave Keuning, and and the bassist Mark. So the complete strings section replaced. If Candida and Mark didnt want to play, or werent up to it - get Leo Abrahams back in, and whomever else. Pulp during and after the reunion were massive, and they as far as im concerned missed out by not recording a new album.
