"The Occasional Badger" - great name for a pub, that

Great track, oh YesYesYesYesYes. More excited than I'd expected to be.

A few recycled ideas that were fun to hear: the 'pop' of the big bang comes close to the whisper at end of the world in Quiet Revolution; repetition of 'so glad we made it' is reminiscent of 'so glad I found ya' in It's a Dirty World'; the field somewhere in Hampshire is sort of aluded to too)

Wow, this song definitely benefits from multiple listens and playing it loud. I was a bit on the fence at first but now I'm hooked!

If it does make regular radio play, hope the edit will still hold up. To many times, radio cuts the song in odd places.

Some interesting thoughts - nothing about Jarv Is though! He's great at not publicising himself, isn't he?!
Good to hear that the book is still in the works.

Mary-Anne Hobbs is about to play the radio edit this morning (original is nearly 7 minutes long) - she seems to think it's a very interesting, not simply chopping half the song out - described as a remix. Hopefully might actually get some radio play!

The edit is a minute shorter but still getting on for 6 minutes so I imagine at that length even 6Music-play will be sporadic.

It's hardly music for radio play anyway, innit ? biggrin

I must have misheard/ misinterpreted what she said at the beginning of the programme, not a radio edit at all, just a remix.

...and the swirly sound effects from Space rear their head.. actually, after repeated listening, I think there's a good deal more self-reference going on here than initially meets the ear - ironic in a song about evolution and wondering whether there's even a need to continue and reinvent...

The audience provides the imperitive refrain (the "yes!" and "no!") that answers him, and his repeated rephrasing of the same question (and especially the eventual statement of doubt) amounts to resistance to their demands. So, could this be a 'goodbye' album? Remember, there was plenty of disgust expressed at the notion of churning-out identikit 'product' back in the Hardcore days ("just another song about single mothers and sex" etc).

Alternatively, it could be an admission that he still finds it hard. (And again, writing never seemed to come easily post-DC).

This song is thrilling and bodes well for the album, but I think the gap between the innovation it proclaims and that is demonstates is deliberate and possibly rather clever. I thought Room 29 showed him to be an even cuter writer than I'd previously thought - beyond his evident wit

Rough Trade shops only.

It's slightly annoying since I was at one of the gigs and they weren't available & now I'd have to make the trip to London to get a copy as they won't sell them online. (I live in Newcastle)

So Obviously I am planning to make the trip & just hope they have some left on Friday when I'm next free.

If I can snap up an extra couple of copies for our friends here overseas then I will.

It's not just Rough Trade, they're in all the indies.Norman Records in Leeds, Crash in Leeds etc...

I picked up a copy from Sister Ray Soho and they had tons, so I do think that if you're fairly quick you should be able to get one if you're UK based.

They're also all one per person for itll be fake moustache / wide brimmed hat required for multiples.

If anyone is planning on visiting Barcelona... There's copies in a shop called Wah Wah Records near La Rambla. At least that's where I got my copy from back in June

Not bad considering it was £15 at the live shows.
