Hello! I've recently been going through & reading all the Pulp People issues on the wiki, and am curious as to why only some are available on there. Does no one have access to the other issues or is it simply due to not having gotten around to typing them all out? Just wondering! :)

Probably the latter. I think Will Wiki has done more for the preservation of all things Pulp than anyone alive (not meant as a dig, btw).

Ah, fair enough! I recently got my hands on several copies of the newsletters, and as I have some that don't appear on the wiki I'd be happy to put them on there. Just want to make sure I'm not invading on anyone's personal project or anything! If scans exist of other issues I'd love to read those, and I'd be happy to type those up as well if no one is planning on doing it themselves. They're just very entertaining little things :)

How many were there? It must be pretty time consuming to type up any of them.

It looks like there were 39 newsletters in total, and #1-19, & #33 have been scanned & typed up on the wiki. I think I've got about five ones that haven't been posted on there yet, and I guess I'll go ahead and start working on that if no one objects. I'm sure it is a very time consuming process, but again, I'm happy to do it (& to type up any others!). I'm very interested in reading every newsletter, & I have several friends who would love to see them all up in the wiki as well. I'm offering to do very tedious work here don't pass up this opportunity! ;)

I had started typing some out some time ago and should have a file.

They were actually transcribed from a scan so I can share this copy. It would require a read through for any typos but it would be quicker then retyping.

Yeah if you - or anyone else - have any existing scans &/or transcriptions that you could send me I'd love to see them and can upload them to the wiki. If you need an e-mail or anything let me know! :)

I'd like that because I have a couple of reviews of Mark's arty stuff I'd like to see again.

Sarah, I was only just reading one of your (very impressive & thorough) reviews last night! It was in #30 for summer of 2000 about Mark's showing of short films about death. Quite an interesting read! I should have that up on the wiki eventually - I spent nearly all yesterday typing up #20 & only got halfway through! Just makes me really appreciate how much time & effort went in to creating each of the newsletters :)

iwatch-thebees - excellent work in transcribing issue 20! Having done the earlier newsletters myself I know how time consuming it can be.

For the previous issues, I didn't usually type out all the text. I scanned the pages and then used software to read the text. The process often didn't work well though, so there was a lot of correcting errors and typing out bits that couldn't be read automatically.

I do have the more recent newsletters, it's just that by issue 19 my motivation to add more had run out. The earlier issues were typically only 2 or 3 folded sheets of A4, while many of the later issues were around 30 pages, so it got much more time consuming to do. Also, the early issues are harder to find, so I guessed there would be more interest to sharing those.

I'm not going to have time to transcribe more any time soon, but I could perhaps help by scanning more pages and provide the images for others to work on.

Ahh, thank you !! I'll have to look into that software, though typing at the moment is going pretty quickly (I've been working on #22, I'd say a little over halfway finished at this point. Either this has become my new hobby, or it's just proof I need to get one...). If you do have scans to share, I'd be more than happy to work on getting those up on the wiki as well :)

Voxpop has just added a host of press clippings to the PulpWiki scrapbook. Great work!

I've put issue #30 up on the wiki if anyone wants to take a look - has quite a long review from Sarah :)

Thanks for that. Christ I wasn't half pretentious when I was 19!

If you aren't a little precocious and a little pretentious in your teenage years, you probably aren't a real Pulp fan.  Nothing to be ashamed of there.

Doesn't sound a fun night out though.  Either I'm getting intellectually lazy, or the accumulation of experience has just exhausted me, but I rarely watch anything dark or real these days. Watching the witless popcorn trash I once sneered at becomes more attractive with each passing year (or each passing election cycle).
