I'm not quite sure how you turn Wireless Nights into a live event, but this is on 1 October and is something to do with a whole season of things across BBC Radio involving the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.

I've seen a few tweets that sounded pretty ecstatic. I was expecting it to be live on the radio, but it it on 13th October at 11pm apparently. I heard the beginning of Mark Riley's programme on radio 6 that evening and he said he had just been at the rehearsals at it was amazing, no specifics. One said something about him singing a Doors song at one point. Orchestra looks massive to me, but then I know nothing about orchestras.

I had assumed this was a one-off for the BBC Philharmonic series across all their various radio stations (I enjoyed John Grant too, who was Radio 6's contribution), but I just checked the radio 4 website and there is a whole new series of 4 episodes.

Thanks for that little trailer, Fran. It's good to see Jarvis on the screen again (and I'm pleased to see his nice tartan shirt has been given another outing).

Well can't keep him off Radio 4 at the moment. This Saturday is a whole 2 and a half hours of a John Peel programme for Keeping It Peel (4 Radio Extra not proper Radio 4). And there was a bit on PM the other day about finding old BBC Schools music programmes. And Wireless Nights was lush as ever.
